Least favorite main character
Who is everyone's least favorite main character from The Office?
shareWho is everyone's least favorite main character from The Office?
shareAndy. I didn't like him in the later season, and don't understand why he became such a big character. Putting him in charge of the branch then just having him leave for 3 months, then come back?! omg so much back & forth, sooo annoying. In my opinion.
shareThis was partially due to filming the Hangover but I totally agree.
shareI absolutely hated him 99% of the time. The 1% being when he did romantic gestures for Erin.
shareIf Erin counts then it's definitely her. I couldn't stand her character.
If it has to be someone from the original cast, I think I'll go with Pam.
Yeah, Ellie Kemper is adorable but my God did her "stupid shtick" get old fast. Like the whole waiting for Pam's pens to get delivered made me CRINGE.
sharemaybe toby or Stanley for me
shareI found her adorable most of the times. But yes, the whole being stupid thing was poorly done and I can see how people got annoyed by it.
shareProbably Pam, especially after she started sleeping w Jim. Trying to get cash instead of gifts from her co workers, complaining about everyone's hygiene when she was preggo, her holier than thou, above everyone attitude, just some of the reasons I found her ultra annoying. I always loved it when Angela put her in her place.
Jim came in a close second w the torturing of his office mate, which they called *pranks* but in reality was the true definition of bullying.
They were both good characters for the show but not the type of people I would associate w in real life....I never understood why Michael loved them so much.
Oh for Pete's sake, Jim torturing Dwight!!!! That's the most idiotic comment I've read for some time. Though this is an Imdb message board, so the occasional head case is to be expected.
I'm going to adopt a middle ground approach and say that, while Dwight was indeed a prick (very funny, though) and did deserve to be pranked and put in his place, Jim went a bit too far sometimes.
shareMichael "loved them" because they were the "cool kids" and he wanted to hang in with them and be "cool" too in his own eyes. Michael was desperate for friends. Dwight was the nerd in Michael eyes so he didn't care for him that much
shareSince when were Jim and Pam the cool kids. Ryan liked to think he was cool even though he wasn't. Jim and Pam never.
Ryan was the hot guy.
Jim and Pam were the cliquey ones.

Except Jim and Pam weren't part of a clique. Far from it. Only two people liked Ryan, Kelly but most of all himself.
I could not have said it better. I'm glad there's someone else who sees this!!

It has to be Jim. He is an attention starved crybaby who thinks he knows what is best for everyone. He always tries to take control of group activities that don't involve Michael and is very pushy and bossy. I see people try to excuse him meddling in Pam and Roy's relationship but no matter how bad it was it was their relationship and not his business. He wasn't protecting her from abuse he was just an immoral douche messing with her head. Not to mention he was very much a bully.

Which Jim is this? Must be someone in another series. Not somebody I recognise. Are you sure you're on the correct board?
Jim and Pam. Jim was a bully and both were always acting as if they were cooler or "better" than everyone else.
The show tried to make them the "good guys" but that just didn't feel right with the way they acted and the things they did.
Why do you say the "show" tried to make them the good guys? I never thought of any of the characters as particularly good...or bad guys. It was always clear to me that the writers knew exactly how they were making Jim and Pam. It was a mockumentary about a dysfunctional office setting where everyone had quirks and foibles...but at times displayed better tendencies. IF you thought Jim was totally bad...or Pam, that's ok, I'm sure the writers and directors would be happy with that reaction.
shareThe writers originally wrote JAM as a normal couple with the madness going on around them. Pam in particular was written to be an audience surrogate, which she became and was very popular with the audience at the time. Of course that changed to some extent as the series progressed, but I would never call her and Jim bad and I'm sure it wasn't the writers idea to portray them in that way. Certainly they had faults, but they are human after all. They were good people, as were most of the other characters.
Andy. Both of them, the angry one and the sissy one.

When I read the title of this thread I figured Ryan, or even Kelly, would have received a lot of mentions. I am surprised that not a single person has mentioned either of them as their least favorite, while a few people have mentioned Stanley. That's bonkers.
My vote definitely goes to Ryan. BJ Novak is a decent actor/comedian, and he plays the part well, but that doesn't make the character any less nauseating.
Ebony is a lesbian, and I found this offensive
