So was Amanda Heard gang raped by blacks at the bar?
And if so, isn't it unrealistic to believe that she would be "in the mood" to be intimate with Johnny Depp so soon after such an experience?

In the book, she is drunk, and overcome with the emotion of the music, drink, and the scene. Sanderson does not want to dance, so she goes off into the middle of the dance floor surrounded by men and lets her inhibitions go wild. She strips naked, and continues to dance with everyone. Eventually, 1 guy moves in and starts undressing. Several more move in. Kemp and Sanderson realize what's happening and try to get her, but are pushed back by several men. They are ushered out. Kemp tries to get back in, but is stopped, and told to leave.
Kemp knows what is going to happen. He knows Chenaut is drunk, and is not aware of the danger she is in. Sanderson sees her behavior as her getting back at him for mistreating her, so he is bitter, and storms off. (In the book Sanderson mistreats her and slaps her around several times.)
Kemp spends all night trying to get back into the bar. Even brings the police that morning, but the place is cleared out.
Cheanaut eventually comes back to Kemp at his apartment, but it is like 3 or 4 days later. She passes out in Kemps bed and sleeps for 2-3 days. They do end up making love, but it was after several days of her "recuperation" at Kemps apt. Not the next day as the movie portrayed.
It is never specially stated in the book that she was raped, but it was pretty heavily implied to the point where it was obvious.
Also, in the book, Kemp has rented his own apt. by the time this scene occurred. He only shared Sala's place in the beginning.
The events in the movie really felt rushed. and squashed together.
They who give up essential liberty to obtain temporary safety deserve neither. Benjamin Franklin
I literally just got done with the book a few days ago while on vacation, but I haven't had time to see the movie yet.
In the book it's actually Yeamon they're with in the bar during Carnival, not Sanderson. But yes Sanderson doesn't want to dance. Kemp if I remember correctly was distracted by his "date" that he had, who he hated, (or else he was dancing so much his legs gave out and he needed a break) for the evening that when all of this came to his attention it was too late and he was pushed out of the way and couldn't get close to her to stop any of it. By the time Kemp and Yeamon did get involved they were beat so bad and thrown out the door by the bouncer and a cab was ordered for them. It was my impression if they came back to stop them they'd be killed. Also after that they went around searching St. Thomas for the police but no one was really willing to help them.
She was raped and it's very clear in the book that's what happened. She comes back and says she doesn't remember anything from that night and also she performed services to get on a plane back to Puerto Rico because all of her money she brought was in the suitcases Kemp and Yeamon have. She drove all around the island looking for Kemp's apartment because she didn't know where it was and the cab driver said she was totally loco when Kemp went to pay the $7.00 the cabbie charged.
It's not 100% clear how long it took before she made her move, but it seems like at least a day. She came back, Kemp made her breakfast and by the time it was done cooking and he brought it to her she was sleeping. She slept for seemingly the whole day if I remember correctly and when she woke up she went to take a shower, and from there she called him into the shower and that's when she made her move.
As far as what happened Kemp went back to his apartment after work and she left a note in his typewriter saying she took off for New York, that she and Kemp were soul mates, and she'd meet him back there. I don't remember if this was before or after Lotterman died though.
I got the impression she was raped too in the movie. I came here to these boards to find out the answer because I have not read the book.
It's kind of a disturbing scene to watch. I feel bad for her, but she kind of got herself into that drunken mess.
got what she asked for
shareI went to a black fraternity in college and this happened to drunk white girls all the time. Most were so drunk that they could barely stand and a few were sober as could be just got it regardless.
shareAnd i guess the girls didnt even care what happened to them...
shareI realise this now that this was implied having just watched the film and read threads like this, but honestly I didn't click to this when watching the film. I figured she was upset cos she was dumped by her boyfriend but I didn't understand what they were trying to imply. Messed up.
shareshe has a black gangbang - jaelyn fox style

All the time huh ? And blacks wonder why they are viewed negatively by many people.
But I'm sure the rapes at your frat house were somehow the white man's fault.
i have n't read the book. i just watched movie today and came here to see what others think of that scene. to me it was obvious gang rape.

I have not read the book but I also felt like the "rape scene" was ambiguous. There isn't much dialogue that suggests anything happened to her but the gap between when she got accosted at the club and when she returned to Depp's apartment was at least the better part of a week. Someone mentioned the gap is only one day but Depp goes to see Eckhart the very next day to find her and she isn't there. He also has that acid trip in between before she returns, suggesting she was gone for quite a while. Upon her return she has some bruising on her face. I think the implication was that she was raped but they kinda just glossed over it.
sharewell what is there to say?
ask her how was it? of course she was gang raped and there was no point in dwelling on it.
Damn, what the *beep* is wrong with you and a couple of other posters in this thread? Sick ass freaks.
shareyou could probably start by taking out the word 'blacks'. its twenty twelve
shareWhat the hell do you mean?
shareI didn't read the book, I just watched it on Netflix.
She did ask for it. Typical stupid girls thinking nothing can or will happen to them and being naive and completely ignorant to the situations they put themselves in and then want sympathy after for being idiots. Saw it all the time in college. I have no sympathy for their stupidity. If I were Depp, I would have helped her recuperate, but would have never slept with her skanky self. She obviously had issues and seemed to never be able to turn away the new penis in the room.
With that said, in the movie, it wasn't obvious that it was a rape. It could have been taken that not much happened to her by the men or maybe she just slept consensually with the one stud dancer, either way then made it back to her boyfriend who was obviously pissed off at her (understandably) and he was the one who beat her before going to Depp's apartment.
She didn't seem to dislike what was happening as he started taking her clothes off. She was drunk, lost her inhibitions, and like so many of us, woke up the next morning regretting the night before.
So was she really raped, per say? I say no. She was way too willing
Was she gang banged? Most likely.
"She did ask for it."
What is wrong with you people? Just because someone is drunk and takes their clothes off doesn't mean they are ASKING or DESERVE to be raped! Anyone who says that is sick! Does that mean that any one at Mardi Gras is ASKING to get raped because they've had a few beers and flash the crowd? I don't think so. Anyone who says "she got what she deserved" or she was "asking for it" is sick, twisted, and is exactly what is wrong with society. What if that were your mom? Or your sister?
She definitely put herself in a dangerous situation, and was not smart for doing so, does give others the right to gang rape her.
Anyway, the movie doesn't do a great job explaining what happened, but I think it's pretty obvious that she was raped.
Guess getting drunk and stripping is an effort to show off ones intellect and not a cry to be taken advantage of. Rapes happen every year at Mardi Gras. Is it deserved? No, but that's the position they put themselves in. What do you think is going to happen when testosterone fueled males get wasted, start using their little head more than the big one and everyone begins to lose inhibitions? The frontal cortex where decision making is made doesn't fully mature until 25, so dumb, young, drunk, horny people make bad decisions naturally.
My sister or mom would have more sense than to go to what is basically a foreign country where they are already a target and act like that making themselves more of a target.
I'm not sick or twisted or even heartless, just a realist and def not what is wrong with society. Stupid people doing stupid things are. My mother has been raped. My cousin has been raped. My good friend has been raped. I've even been raped. I've helped countless rape victims and domestically abused women and been an advocate for many as well. So I'll stay up on my high horse.
The victim role of some young girls gets old quickly when they put themselves in those situations. Like a girl told me once "I drank a lot, then went into his room, we were making out, then he took off my shirt, laid me down and that's the last thing I remember, I didn't expect it to go any farther than that, I think he raped me." Umm...really? Where did you think it would go after all that with no resistance? You think some drunk frat guy is going to stop by reading your mind, you'll be lucky if he even notices you passed out. People wanting to blame everyone else since they aren't responsible enough for themselves is what is wrong with society. Some of these girls in a college town out late on a Friday night having fun, thinking they're invincible and think they are fine just because they have a DD or didn't drink much. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan until you come into my ICU and I'm having to do CPR on you then tell your family we're hoping you make it. Was the night still fun for you? You may be able to drive fine, but the drunk idiot running the redlight coming right at you doesn't care. If you have no reason to be out that late other than partying, why do it and increase your odds of something bad happening? Happens every weekend, somebody is hit by a drunk driver and another girl is raped and 90% or more of the time it could have all been avoided with some common sense and if they weren't where they had no business being.
Just like cheating, don't put yourself in a position where you might cheat on your spouse if you don't want it to happen. Simple as that. The easiest way to not get raped is to not put yourself in a position to be raped. She did. This is the real world with real sickos and predators everywhere, just google sexual predators and see how many there are and how close they are, this isn't some utopian world society where everything is flowers and rainbows and you can do whatever you want with no consequences. Are those consequences right or wrong? Who cares, they are still going to happen and they are still traumatic. People are dangerous. Maybe "she deserved it" was a bit strong to say, but she def didn't do herself any favors at preventing it which could eliminate the majority of rape cases. Nobody is more responsible for you and protecting you, than you. You wouldn't walk into a prison and start yelling racial slurs and expect nothing to happen just because you "never deserve physical harm." In a perfect world maybe. But this is the real world and if you do something so stupid, things will happen.
You can say all day that "they should know better" or "know not to take advantage of you after you're wasted" or "they should know it's just wrong after I've thrown myself all over them and given them every other signal" but who the heck knows what they know or how they were raised or what mental state they are in? Why should they know better? Because you say so? Because it fits into our society? It's already been established our society can be pretty sickening, just watch the news any night of the week, and in her case, she wasn't even really in a 1st world location so that's even more presumptuous. Because you assume everyone has a perfect life with perfect mental health and social interaction and should be incapable of making a bad decision? Impossible. So why give everyone the benefit of the doubt and allow yourself the chance at being a victim?
I'll just stop now since apparently not thinking the world is full of love and peace is crazy and I'm sick because of it. I mean, I've only been there and lived it and all..
"She definitely put herself in a dangerous situation, and was not smart for doing so"
That's a direct quote from my comment.
I didn't say, WOW I'M SO SURPRISED SHE GOT RAPED AFTER STRIPPING AND GETTING DRUNK IN A BAR.
And I don't think the world is "full of love and peace," nor did I ever say anything to imply this.
All I was trying to say, was that I was offended by the comments saying that she "deserved to get raped"
Comments like that make it sound like rape is "ok," as long as the girl is a slut, or wearing a short skirt, or drinking, or any number of things.
I completely agree that she could have prevented that whole situation by not getting wasted, taking off her clothes, and by not leaving with her friends, but rape is still rape. Just because it isn't a surprise it happened, doesn't make it right.
I personally have never been raped, but I have very close friends who have been and work with victims as well. I work at a hospital as well as an x-ray tech. So I'll sit up on my high horse now and when a woman who has been brought in because he boyfriend/ husband beats the crap out of her, and her face is mangled, limbs broken and scared to tell us what really happened, I don't think to myself, "This whole victim thing really gets old."
Just settle down, because I agree that people put themselves in really stupid situations which can lead to getting raped, killed, injured or robbed, but I don't turn to the murderer/rapist/robber and say, "It's ok, she was REALLY asking for it."
well that's assuming she didn't want it. rape is not rape if it's consensual and she didn't seem to dislike one moment of it.

well they were black weren't they?
shareI have no doubt at all that she had multiple sex with the black men. It may have been consensual with the first black man but IMO many of the others there would have taken advantage and joined in.
Recent gang rape convictions in Sydney of young Lebanese males show a similar modus operandi: young girl consents to sex with one man she has just met, he then calls his friends on a cellphone, they all rush over and join in. That's rape.
