Could somebody explain why they liked this?

I have written an in depth review of this, explaining why exactly I hated this film (rated 2/10).
However I still think I need further closure on this film, because I am totally confused over the high rating. I want somebody who genuinely loved, or even just loved this film to explain their perspective to me. I promise that I will be mature, and I hope I can learn something from this. Thanks.

How do you rate this movie 2 out of 10?? This movie pushes the envelope and then some and interconnects all the characters like few plots ever have, it's totally originally and touches every single possible stereotype, it's not about liking or hating, the first way you make change in the world regardless of the issue is you bring it to the forefront and start s discussion, take the blinders off, mate

I could see why people don't like it. However I thought it was interesting because the person with the most character in the film did the worst thing and the person with the least character was the most heroic and loving.

This movie, Crash, and another movie, Magnolia, are two of my top 10-20 favourite movies of all time. Many people who have watched both movies fail to understand why I love both movies so very much; since they are extremely different types of movies doing similar things. Often people who love Magnolia hate Crash; and vice versa. However, not me.

Crash delivers blockbuster entertainment. It proves that sometimes Hollywood can use heaps of money to make a really great film. It's one of those rare instances where Hollywood doesn't actually blow their resources (Titanic is another good example, but I am not drawing any other similarities whatsoever and do not intend to start a debate on this!). The direction (of Crash) is perfect; it has excellent acting from all of the cast; the story is magnificent; the message is clear, sincere, and heartfelt; and the circumstances of each character are within the realm of possibility, but not so much 'realistic.' In other words, IT IS a HOLLYWOOD film at the end of the day, and each character's story arc serves a very particular purpose.

Magnolia, on the other hand, is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. The acting is yet again first class from the ensemble cast, but the story, the direction, and especially the circumstances of each character are on another spectrum to Crash. Magnolia presents a much more realistic showdown and for this reason it is very UNhollywood. Although in Crash the events were clearly orchestrated by a 'storyteller', Magnolia, in contrast, depicts events which are much more likely to be occurring in 'real-life.' It is for this reason that many people cannot love both films, and end up hating one or the other (as people are usually pro or against Hollywood films).

Nevertheless, myself on the other hand, really appreciate films not sticking to the norm of Hollywood and creating something not only very fresh, but also emotionally entertaining (Magnolia)... but I also appreciate it when Hollywood can pull it off themselves too. No matter how many times I watch Crash, it brings tears to my eyes, and it makes me appreciate the smaller things in life.

On a side note, I highly recommend you watch Magnolia if you have not by now.

I liked the film because of its themes ( which, unfortunately, is still relevant today in August 2016); also because the acting , on the whole, is good. However, "Crash" is no masterpiece, not even a very good film, but it is a good film.

For a start, the film just has too many coincidences. Another thing that got me was the fact that the Ludacris character berated his friend at the beginning of the film for using the word *beep* a lot; then he proceeded to use the word throughout the film. That does not make sense.

The film tries to be deep, and indeed it does have things to say about racism, but it is not subtle like say the film "In the Heat of the Night". The viewer feels bludgeoned with its message.

Despite my criticisms of the film I actually think it is good. The acting of Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, and Thandie Newton were very good. Bullock's rage in her home about non-whites; and the first scene between Dillon and Newton were outstanding scenes.

I find it sad that the film is still relevant twelve years after it was made.

I love the movie. I'll attempt to explain why, but I'm not sure I can get everything out of my head and onto paper so that it makes sense.

First, I loved it because it is so real. Our society likes to believe that people are either all good (or mostly good) or all bad. But this movie shows the contrary. I cannot argue that Matt Dillion's character did a horrible thing to that woman. There is no defense. But we also see him caring for and obviously upset over his ill father, and later saving the woman's life. Yes, you can argue that he was just doing his job, but you could also argue that someone who would sexually assault someone like that would A. Not care about doing his job and b. Not want to put himself in danger to save her. In a world where a lot of people belive cops have declared it to be open season on black people, it's certainly not hard to believe a lesser person would not risk their life to save a stranger, job or not.

We also see the racism that is evident a lot, and the racism that the media will have you believe is the only racism that exists which is whites being racists to everyone else. But this film shows that many people can be and are racists. Color of the skin doesn't matter, it just has to be different from their own. I think it perfectly shows the real problem of racism, and the reason it will never go away...people's own fears and misunderstandings, people's irrational anger and picking out the most obvious insult to hurl at the other person. Sandra Bullocks snap judgement about the two black men, and then the scene where her judgement turned out to be correct as they carjacked her and her husband.

IMO the movie very realistically painted a picture of how individuals come up with their prejudices and judgemental views. Is it any wonder a black woman would be leery of white cops after what happaned to her? Is it so hard to understand why the Persian man is so angry? Racism and judgement and stereotypes are so complex and all tied in to each other, but at the same time they're very simple and one dimensional. I thought this movie did an amazing job of showing that.

I for one loved the "coincidences" and I don't think people realize just how small our world really is, and it cannot be seen without being the all knowing viewer that you get to be when watching this movie. I'll bet most people pay no attention to the cars and people around them on any given day. One day while running errands and covering many miles, I saw the same minivan three times through out the day, but the only reason I knew it was the same was because the back window was smashed out and covered with garbage bags and duct tape. We likely cross paths with a lot of the same people each day, I'm different places and didn't times, and are connected to others in ways we can have no knowledge of. I thought that aspect was one of the best parts of the movie. The idea that there is no such thing as a coincidence.

Well-acted, well-shot, beautiful soundtrack and gorgeous cinematography, and a genuine attempt at a profound look at racial tensions. I say attempt because I, like many others, found this movie to be quite preachy, however I understand and appreciate what the movie was TRYING to say and thoroughly enjoyed it. Still shouldn't have won Best Picture though.

There are some near perfect moments in this movie that hit with a ton of emotional weight. and there are flatulent sore misses that have you pulling your hair out wondering what the hell is going on.

You kind of have to forgive a lot. Still, I bought it on blue ray, so I must have liked it a lot.

Stupid comments will be ignored. Good luck!
