STILL ANNOYED THEY CANCELLED THIS SHOW YEARS LATER !!

I loved SG-1 and Atlantis equally, I have SG-1 on DVD and Atlantis on Blu Ray. I am still annoyed that the powers that be cancelled Atlantis in favour of Universe so didn't finish Atlantis properly. No 100th episode finale, no mini series finish, no shortened final 6th series to finish. I feel it was a slap in the face to fans and to the show and its actors. Yes, the creators did their best but they could only do so much and it was still left unfinished. Universe was ok and it did grow on me, and surprise, surprise the ratings were not good enough for it either so the powers that be cancelled that too. It too got an ok finish but still left undone. So all that and we are left with basically 2 unfinished shows and lots of annoyed fans. Years later perhaps it might be time to satisfy fans, creators and actors who perhaps want to finish what they started, and perhaps MGM and Syfy should wake up and see the huge money machine they had and continue to take advantage of that for every ones sake.

Still annoyed myself....

Pretty new to the show but love it.... So l guess it finds a new audience all the time.!!! Funny thing is as fantasy artist myself l get to do conventions and from time to time over the years & have met some of the cast and chatted in the guest rooms. Apart from knowing they were in sci Fi series l now wish ld been clued up on this fun & sometimes touching series... All we ever talked about was refreshments, travel and the food ;-).

I agree. They shouldn't have cancelled it years later, years after the premiere. They should have cancelled it immediately.

I love them equally, too. However, if Atlantis had been given as much time as SG-1 (5 more seasons), I think it would have EASILY surpassed it. They really only needed one more season. Such an amazing story arc, held up be even more amazing characters. The only flaw the show had was no ending - kind of like The X Files.

reply

It is too bad it wasn't given a sixth season.

Overall, I agree with you completely. So forgive me for the following bit of nitpicking...

No 100th episode finale...

Actually, the final episode, "Enemy at the Gates", was in fact the 100th episode. Keep in mind that two-hour premieres like SGA's "Rising" (or SG-1's "Children of the Gods") are considered to be two episodes. Therefore, SGA ran for five seasons of twenty episodes each for a total of exactly one hundred episodes.

But, man, "Enemy at the Gates" was an epic turd and a horrible way to end the series. I could forgive the fact that the series wasn't followed by any TV/direct-to-video movies if they had only ended the series on a dignified and thoughtful note like SG-1's finale, "Unending".

reply

Yeah, the last episode of SGA wasn't that great of an ending.
