Any reason for the nudity?
I'm not a prude at all but in the film the night before the dive the female character is lying on the bed fully naked. From watching the scene I could not see any reason for this? Or is it just me?

shareI'm sick of being subjected to just female nudity but nothing from the men....Hollywood needs to get on the equality band and realize as a heterosexual woman, I do want to see male nudity and not just their butt....but the whole package. Let me decide as the movie goer if I find it offensive or attractive.....Sick and tired of the double standard. Hollywood subjects me to T&A. I want to see some P&A as well !!!!

Wahts your problem ? Never seen a naked woman before?
shareI read the first page of the responses and decided to post, so if someone brought this up already I apologize.
If you guys were paying attention, their A/C was broken so I take it that in order to keep cool she decided to be nude....Just something that I picked up on.
Yeah, the couple had a conversation about the broken A/C that day. IIRC in the nude scene you can see the ceiling fan on and Susan is sleeping on top of the covers.

Moviegoers are used to action-packed 90 minute films with lots of changes of scenery, wardrobe, faces, pace, etc. The hotel scene is some badly needed spice in an otherwise monotonous storyline. Also, the nudity helps viewers to bond with the characters-- to care about whether they live or die, as opposed to seeing them as faceless people kept at a distance-- like just another disposable James Bond minion or redshirted Star Trek extra.

Long live Michael Moore, one of the few true heros in America today.
It was just an "excuse" to show us some boobies. I'll take it.
shareIt's to show the audience that this girl doesn't know what a razor is.lol.

The reason why there is nudity in the movie is because sometimes, when couples are on vacation and they are going to bed, they GET NAKED! Hard as it is to believe, but it does happen. I should know because when I go to bed with my wife, sometimes we're naked too.
shareI saw the filmakers interview packed with the DVD (they are a husband and wife couple); they said that while looking for the 2 actors they established some binding points:
-the actors had to be willing to take SCUBA DIVING lessons, because they will be really filming in open waters
-the actors had to be willing to act naked
-the actors had to be willing to learn all the scenes of the movie before starting to film; this because the scene to be shot every time had to be decided on the spot depending by sea/sky conditions. The movie was shot only in weekends in a long time span. Because the director had a regular job, they filmed only in the weekends for 2 years and 6 months, flying on Saturdays from USA to Bahamas and returning home in time to go work on Monday.
-the actors had to be willing to act between real sharks out in the ocean. With them there was a shark behaviour expert that helped to attract wild sharks and to make them "to act" using baits. No stuntmen was used. When acting between sharks the actors weared a special diving suit with protective metallic plates .. while the director-cameraman weared only a normal one.
So, by this, it seems that the director-producer couple gave some importance to the naked scenes in the movie, up to the point to make this a criterion to choose/discard an actor.
its simple.. this movie sucked and they needed something to cover it up
shareHell, I walk/lie/sit around naked all the time... see nowt wrong with it!
I think it's sad that some people feel that you can only be naked if you're about to have sex. I think there's different kinds of "naked"!
I'm lying in bed right now with my computer and not a piece of clothing on.
Tha Hot Girlz -- THE99 And 4 Eva!
It's not just about seeing a woman's muff. The writers are doing their job to add theme, to foreshadow, and to symbolically present the poor lass as nothing more than a piece of meat - as a part of the food chain. She's only hours from being eaten, and she presents as a human delicacy. What shark wouldn't want to chew that?
[Insert clever movie quote here]
It is a prerequisite that all 'B' movies that are made have senseless nudity in them. It's a federal law I think.
