Did anyone else feel sick watching the rape scene?

I felt like vomitting, I was so disturbed. The paedophile scenes were pretty cringeworthy also but the rape scene really messed me up. I don't think I'll be able to ever watch this movie again. I thought it was brutally honest in the way it dealt with the subject matter and a pretty good movie, but I was so disturbed I don't think Ill ever be able to watch it again...

What I think he means is "Okay I gotta see what these people are talking about"

I have difficulty watching any brutal rape scene (Pulp Fiction, Leaving Las Vegas, that Jodie Foster movie I can't remember the name of) but this one was particularly gruesome and horrific. I just can't deal with sadistic stuff..

reply

ill take it you havent seen "Irreversible". That rape scene is so *beep* long it loses all dramatic quality and becomes like helplessly watching someone else really get raped.

reply

This may make me sound like some kind of freak, but I've seen this movie four times now and own it. The disturbing scenes are still just as disturbing no matter how many times I've seen it. I bought this movie because I love the acting (and forgive me, have a fatuation with Joseph Gordon-Levitt). The movie is very disturbing, but I keep reminding myslef that it's just a movie and the scenes are not real.

I know.
I was like, ohmygod.
Poor JGL! D'x

that guy was crazy with his damn shampoo bottle.
I was like, WTF.

It was extremely disturbing, especially with the way it was shot. Normally you get shots from different angles. But because the film was shot focusing on the rapist's face, you get the sense that you are experiencing what Neil is experiencing.

OMFG the rape seem was horrendous but let me tell you about the part that scared me the most: The part where Neil is washing his face, and then looks up and sees the lock being flipped open by the rapist.

Hands down, that part where the rapist pries open the lock and you see it flip over scares the *beep* out of me, I'm serious. The rape scene is horrible, obviously but just that part where you see the lock just slowly flip over I'm literally dying, even though that part only lasts like 5 seconds it is seriously worth at least 2 minutes to me.
That *beep* lock haunts my dreams every single night.

I fainted during that scene and fell of the chair, woke up 1 hour later...

OMG that killed me.
Just that split second of a close-up of JGLs face... and the way his head kind of snaps up in apprehension....jesus...

I had to pause that scene for a second.
Have a little cry.
Tell myself that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an ACTOR and that I am watching a movie
And then I started it again.
Hard scene to watch ...

The rape scene was really intense. It made my eyes tear up... mainly because I thought Neil was going to die. It was more disturbing than the old men scenes.
