The MOST DEPRESSING movie I have EVER seen!!

I mean... This is coming from a guy that has Black Swan, Atonement, Memoirs of a Geisha, 21 Grams, La Vie en Rose, A beautiful mind, The Hours, Melancholia...etc on his top 20 list, most of these movies can be REALLY depressing...

But this, This is WAY over the top, i mean i loved Christian's performance and the story was interesting to me, but i thought the director took it to a whole new level with the depression, IT WAS NOT FUN TO WATCH!! i still have a headache from watching it at 1:00 am .

Overall this movie isnt everybody's cup of tea, u either love it or u hate it. i gave it a 6/10

reply

"A Beautiful Mind" is depressing? The climax of the film is the main character winning the Nobel Prize, and giving a moving speech about his love for his wife. What's depressing about that?

reply

This is not a depressing movie.

reply

House of Sand and Fog. That was a fricking sad movie. Haven't seen this one yet, but I've been wanting to watch it.

reply

I totally second that!!

House of Sand and Fog is beautiufully acted and directed, I think it's an amazing movie, but so immensely dark and depressive.

Another movie that's right there is INCENDIES (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1255953/)

If you people like good, but tough, movies this is definitely one of them. I love recommending it, cause it's not too well known, since it's a Canadian/Fench movie. But it left me with that hole in my stomach, that void...

If this is the most depressing movie you've ever watched, you've probably haven't seen your highness

reply

I did not find it as depressing. Following movies a lot depressing for me.

Requiem for a Dream
sin Nombre
The Painted Veil
Atonement
Boys Don't Cry
Into the Wild
The Circle
Oldboy
Never Let Me Go
Mysterious Skin
Candy

reply

Requiem for a Dream... that movie was the most depressing one I've ever seen, so was Into the Wild.

reply

It's hard to sit through some scenes in Requiem for a Dream. Most depressing ever for me.

reply

Nobody mentions Melancholia? That's a hell of a depressing film, brilliant though, like this

reply

OK, I'm probably not normal with this... but I for some reason felt pity/sympathy for Trevor when he yelled indiscernible words while looking through his wallet for the picture of Ivan and Reynolds (during his breakdown at work, when his hand was nearly destroyed).

reply

Try "The Magdalene Sisters"!!!!!!!

Also - The Road (with Viggo Mortensen)...

Depressed for DAYS after those two!

reply

What about Donnie Darko? I get REALLY depressed every time I watch that one. Especially with the music.

reply

Not me I watch it around Halloween every year. Can't get enough of it.
