Corrections about Europe

Some Major errors about Europe in the movie:

1. Why Manchester United Supporters in London? Why didn't they pick Chelsea, West Ham, Millwall...hooligans? Manchester is situated about 330km north of London.

2. Crans-sur-Mer doesn't exsist and the location shows the landscape of southern France (St-Tropez) while they actually are on the location of Calais or Boulogne-sur-Mer in Northern France.

3. While going from Bratislava to Berlin, the map on the dinertable shows a representation of the Black forest (Schwartzwald). The Black Forest actually is located in South-Western Germany (at the frontier with Alsace, France).

4. It's impossible to see as many trees next to the Louvre in Paris.

5. It's not possible to announce the death of the pope and having a new one on the same day. They're must be a conclave with all of the cardinals of the world under the age of 80 to elect a new one...so nobody would actually believe that Scott is the new pope.

6. The map on the table showd Rome to be on the east of Berlin....Rome is to the south of Berlin.

7. Scotty says they're's no drinking age in England...The drinking age is 18 in England (16 in my country, Belgium).

5. again, who cares

6. Meh. It's not an educational video on the continent it's a comedy

7. yeah im pretty sure the laws are more lax and you can drink in restaurants and pubs

this movie as a satiric comedy without any cultural confrontation; is VERY STUPIDLY FUNNY

but this movie is also quite offensive... the movies seems like telling us how weird europeans are and how fun -loving and crazy americans are.
they made European like some counrties far beyond "normal".

but still, i enjoyed the movie a lot.. though many facts were all made-up, i enjoyed watching the new pope from the window.

This movie is a silly low-budget comedy. Of course it contains many stereotypes and inaccuracies. American movies about America contain many stereotypes and inaccuracies as well.

The most impossible thing in the film : you can't do what they do in the movie with 1.83 dolars in eastern Europe. And I don't think the E Europe look bad as in the movie [where a man wash outside] . Fake images that create confussion about the real image of E Europe.

Crap people, most movies filmed about the USA these days are actually filmed in Canada. All of this "it isn't even filmed in the real country" is stupid when you are talking abour a "FICTIONAL" film. Shees....

Some americans really think that europe is a country. Americans have never been so very clever. i remember one time when i saw Xzibit on pimp my ride and he was talkning some jibberish.. "what are u talking" th other guy said "european " he replied..

"Giggety Giggety Goo.."

Hence the joke Cooper makes while they're waiting for Scotty in Rome.
"Europe Is Officially The Worst Country Ever"

This movie was so *beep* stupid. I understand using stereotypes as a means to be funny, but it was like there was no brain power behind the humor. I'm american and they just made europeans seem like a bunch of wierd stupid people. There were soo many different ways to make it funny without being ridicules. Like the only thing italians say is "mi dispiace" and take all there clothes off on a train. They could've made jokes about how the gypsies in italy are always begging for money scrambling on the floor shaking convulsly and then as soon as you walk around the corner they get up and look for a new location. Or the way europeans give directions to tourists that are completely wrong. I'm just saying they really could've hit on more realistic elements of europe to make it funny. as opposed to a bunch of naked french guys who chase down tourists like a bunch of animals on a beach. it was just stupid.

You've missed out the biggest mistake of them all:

8. The Republic of Ireland is coloured in with the Union Flag in the title sequence.

I would imagine that would make some people really angry (Irish people, mostly). And they can't even say they were using a map pre-1922 since I imagine Eastern Europe looked somewhat different back then.

in response to question number 1, Manchester United has the largest fan-club and most supporters of any soccer team in the world. in addition, they're probably the most famous british soccer team, so there's more of a chance that people (and americans in particular) would have heard of them. plus, smaller teams like West Ham, Millwall, etc. would not probably be playing in france seeing as how they aren't really good enough to be participating in european competition.

in response to question number 5, this is explained in the movie. when the bell rings, jamie says something to the extent of, "usually the college of cardinals has to meet it takes at least 2 weeks to elect a new pope. we might be seeing history in the making here" or something along those lines.
