couldn't watch it; should I try again?
I shut it off about 45mins in (around the time when Anjelina makes her first appearance). Should I give it another chance? Does it get better?

No, this movie sucks pretty hard. I may have made it a little further than you, then took it out, and threw it against a wall. People pretend to like this movie because it looks like a classic. In all honesty classics like The Godfather, and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, keep you entertained. This movie I believe is used to extract information from terrorists at Guantanamo Bay. They previously used the hit Larry the Cable Guy movie, Delta Farce, but when this came out they had to switch.
shareOMG. this is the worst film ever. 3hrs of absolute poo. how i sat through the whole film without harming myself i will never know. terrible
shareIt is a film that needs quiet and the will to put a bit of effort into understanding what is going on. Whilst it isn't a fast pace where action occurs, the pace, on a "thinking level" is still pretty fast and you need to be alert all the time.
Certainly not to be watched if you are tired, there is distraction about, or you aren't willing to go that extra mile.
Certainly the finest film I have seen this year. ;-)
Ampers.
That's a coincidence. I messed up and started watching about an hour into the film by mistake. It was so jumpy with the timeline that I didn't notice and watched it till the end. I wondered why some things that should have been making sense weren't. e.g. When Laura turned up at the play, I hadn't met her character before! Confused?....You will be.
Ca' canny now.
Exactly how I felt! I actually fell asleep, something I never do during a movie. To try again or not try again..that is the question.. Why bother making an effort on liking it a second time around?
shareIt is an arduous journey getting through this film if you didn't see it in theaters. I struggled repeatedly to finish it. Although this film does have a big payoff in the end, it could have edited a bit. This film is worth finishing, but its quite draining. My posterior still hurts.
shareI'm at 1:40:00 while currently watching it for the first time. Finally I have hit the pause button a few minutes ago, and came here on IMDb to surf a little.
Sure, I will give the movie a second chance and I will watch it to the end, since it has an interesting ground story, but boy it bores the pants off of me so far, and a couple of times I fell out of the movie by the true miscasting of Angelina Jolie (those doctored lips in the 1940's, haha) and the borderline miscasting of Matt Damon. But the most crucial point: the movie hops around in a 20-30 year timeline and Damon is always 35.
On a plus side: Love how Martina Gedeck steals the movie with her five minutes on screen.
personally I loved the entire movie, but if its not fast enough for you after 45minutes, don't bother...
