I know it's a long shot, but was chatting with Netflix....

About bringing back Carnivale, and the person I spoke with was not only VERY receptive to this, but made it sound like there was already a campaign within Netflix to do so! I know HBO hasn't been very flexible in the past, but if anyone can do it, NF can. They have already saved two shows that I know of in the last year or so, and Carnivale has fans who work at Netflix and are being vocal about it.

This JUST happened two minutes ago, and I came straight here, rarely post here, and VERY rarely start a thread. But this one I had to share. I do have a copy of the chat in my email. Also, I would encourage all fans to make this suggestion to NF. I am surely not the first, and by the response I received I believe the more the better. I think this is a better strategy than petitioning HBO. If NF gets enough response, maybe they'll offer HBO more money, and that is the only thing that can make this happen... money.

I'm in need of a bit of clarification. By "bring back", do you mean bring the show back to life with new episodes or do you mean the already aired episodes will be available to Netflix customers?

reply

I was going to say it would be too big budget but Carnivale's budget was $4 million per episode and it seems Netflix's other episodes are in that range (House of Cards is apparently higher).

I guess the only issue would be getting everyone back. At the minimum we'd need the actors for Samson, Ben, Justin, Sofie, Iris, Jonesy and maybe the Cooch family.

reply

Good luck getting anyone from the cast back. Clancy Brown is too busy these days. Nick Stahl is a drugged out deadbeat.

reply

That may work for Nick Stahl. Just follow him around with a camera and then write the show around what he does.

reply

Any screen grabs of the conversation? It would be good to see these :) not that im dismissing you. I hope netflix does get it, its a great show.

reply

I hope you are right and Netflix will consider bringing Carniale back (and Firefly too ;-) ).

I love Carniale and hope it will be continued as show or film series.

reply

Will never happen. Beyond the logistical reasons, I highly doubt HBO would be willing to give up the rights to the property (which they own) to a competitor. ...and they shouldn't. Other than Orange Is The New Black and (to a lesser extent) Lilyhammer, the rest of the original programming put out by Netflix has been pretty bad to just plain awful. Even House of Cards.

reply

Orange is the new black was and is a piece of crap but House of Cards is just pure insanity! Best show out there with GoT and Shameless!

I got board one day and was looking around HBOGO and saw Carnivàle and started watching it. I'm almost done with season two and I know I'm gonna have so many unanswered questions. I happen Netflix gets the rights and makes new episodes!

Do you work at Netflix. Is that why you were "talking to them"?

reply

No, I dont work there. No screen shots. Was only talking to a rep who works for NF. Just got very excited to hear the show has many fans who work there, and that there has already been internal talks about reviving it. Thought I'd share, wish I had more.
