Have the french ever won anything?
I mean come on, they must have.
shareTh OP clearly has no concept of basic history to ask such a moronic question. In recent history it was the French who fought for the British colonists in America and Secured them a treaty leading to the formation of the USA. Why do you think the US has the statue of liberty? It was a gift from the French and used as a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.
The French have won many wars and battles in history. The only country that has never won a war is the USA.
Technically the USA has done very few wars in the recent years. They followed the doctrine of Isolationalism. Only in WW1 and WW2 and the Cold War did they not follow it. Nowadays wars are not won like they did during the Rennaisance era or the Victorian era, e.g Complete annexation (See the balkan wars). They give you priviledges, rights and compensations. America has lost wars (Vietnam) but when it comes to other countries they rarely wage war to conquer, only to impose favourable terms for them. The French military was as brilliant as it was stupid. Napoleon lost at Waterloo due to an officer misunderstanding his command. Point is, no country ever could be judged for its military because due to the ages every civilization has been a conqueror of different scales. For example see the Vikings, or the Turks, or Greeks. Everyone has a share of war winnings and glory
shareFrance was infamous for having the most powerful army in Europe until very recently, when Germany (well, Prussia at the time) finally overshadowed her in military might during the Franco-Prussian War. The only reason Britain was able to defend itself was the overwhelming power of the Royal Navy, which secured British hegemony over the sea and made an invasion of the British Isles impossible.
France is still very capable in war, and provides a significant amount of the military force to NATO, along with the UK and US.
Have the Americans ever won anything?
I mean, come on, they must have...
Well, they beat the sh*t out of the British in 1783 (thank you France for all these weapons...), but since?
They got kicked out of Vietnam, got into a bloody mess in Afghanistan, then in Irak, and now, what would happen if they go to Ukraine? I'll tell you: this would be another huge mess.
I think you should mind your own business man.

He's not wrong, though.

Hmm, guess you're a winner then;-)
Congratulations..
We needed France's help to win the War of 1812, dummy. And we didn't singlehandedly win WWI or WWII. And given the the point of the Vietnam war was to prevent Vietnam from becoming Communinst and Vietnam is a Communist nation, I'd say we didn't win that one. The "police action" is Korea never officially ended, so, that's not a war anyone won. Maybe you weren't born yet when Desert Storm happened, but we didn't really do anything over there, so, no winners there. I don't even know how we can throw away a win, but okay. It also strikes me that the Iraqi people wouldn't consider it a win, since the power vacuum left by the death of Saddam allowed ISIS to become more powerful. A thing that never would have happened if GWB hadn't lied and ignored intelligence to put us there in the first place. And since Afghanistan is ongoing, can't really call that a win.
Maybe you should spend less time name calling in all caps and more time actually learning about the things you talk about so you don't come off like you've been suckled on Rush Limbaugh's gigantic man boob.
The U.S. didn't win the war of 1812, at best it was a draw. American invasion into Canada was repulsed after being defeated in battle. The British burned the White House.
You might want to look up a guy named Napoleon and check out some of his victories.
shareWell, Napoleon conquered most of Europe before Waterloo, so there's that. See "Arc de Triomphe" for more details.
shareConsidering the French took Moscow (something no one has did before or since), that they are responsible for the USA being an independent country and that they were also smart enough to know Vietnam was a lost cause before the USA even arrived then I would say they have won or been right in lots of things.
And they won the World Cup, leaving few major nations that haven't.
Ya Kirk-loving Spocksucker!
