You see what I'm getting at here? No nation in the world is capable of saving the planet EXCEPT the United States of America, the sole global superpower in 2013, with the resources and the military might to get the job done.

That said, even with all of today's technology is would be IMPOSSIBLE to restart Earth's core with Nuclear Weapons... a very silly idea for a movie really.

Besides, in the movie we see flags of other nations joining together at the Virgil facility to help build Virgil and the other technology used in the movie. It was a world effort, believe it or not.

Because the United States was the only nation on the planet with all the resources to save the planet in the case of this movie. We were the one-stop-shop in this fictional universe. In real life, we'd all be doomed.

Other countries are free to make all the movies they want in which they save the planet. Why are American filmmakers expected to do it for them?

It is called white savior complex. It exists not only in movies, but also in school curriculum, foreign policy, and volunteering abroad.
