Aged by its soundtrack

While the OP had a less than intelligent way to say that he/she simply doesn't like Evanescence, I'd rather have a movie feature real music, no matter what the era or style rather than what some futuristic movies do by featuring music that isn't real, that is, what the movie maker thinks music will sound like in that future. There's no reason to believe that any music, up to the present, won't age well enough to still be around in the future. Well, except for rap or disco or if Earthlings aren't involved. IMHO, of course.

I like the early 2000s and any song will somewhat date a film. But I did think some of the songs, including Evanescence, were unnecessary and somewhat pulled away from the film.

Aside from the songs, though, this film feels very late '90s even in 2003, very much trying to imitate the style of the last few Batman films rather than be its own film, and I think that hurt it.

Yeah, because 2003 was so long ago. Did they even have cars back than?

Yep, the soundtrack definitely aged it. And it's not like the music was used subtly either, it's so in your face. Especially in the funeral scene, I can barely hear the characters talk with Amy Lee screaming her lyrics.

Exactly what I thought to myself!

Producer #1: "How do we make SURE to age the film so the audience of the future will know this is from the early 2000's?"

Producer #2: "NU-METAL!!!!"

It was fairly generic main-stream heavy rock, some slight metal in there. But yes, as someone else said, better than 90% of soundtracks nowadays!
