Why does Affleck look back on this in disgust?
I mean, he describes it as "embarrassing" without going into specifics as far as I know.

shareI just watched it again for the first time since release.
I have to say that I thought it was a great movie, well balanced, very entertaining... UP TO THE POINT. And I think Ben feels embarrassed because he was unfairly blamed for the failure of the movie.
What point?
The point where DD took a minor beating and got stabbed through the shoulder; and that stabbing was enough to put him on the floor while his girl, his love, was being sadistically killed. Then after expending more energy on trip across town - wounded - to get to the church, he is challenged and NOW ready to fight Bullseye... and then take on the Kingpin.
That one stupid bit of writing destroyed this entire movie.
Ben did a great job. The writer, editor, and director let him down with their carelessness.
Very well put. It didn't bother me but I guess some people found it odd that he got up wounded and fought like he did when he couldn't do it for Elektra.
shareI truly don't know. But I hate it, because the movie was what got me into superheroes. This movie meant so much to me when I was a kid. I remember to this day coming out of the theater thinking, Ben Affleck was like the best actor ever. Granted I was like 10 and knew nothing of comics yet, but still, and then I saw the Directors Cut a few years later and I thought it was amazing. The last time I saw it though I still thought it was a good movie, it feels like people just love to hate it because it's trendy. Personally I wish he had the guts to say he stands by it, considering that there are many people who aren't sheeple and actually gave the directors cut a chance. I just saw the Batman Suit it was awesome. So pleased. Looks just like the suit from The Dark Knight Returns. I honestly am pretty optimistic about Man of Steel 2. I think Ben Affleck has the chops to play Bruce Wayne, and playing the Dark Knight shouldn't be that hard, he just needs solid direction and a good script to work with. It's funny to me though cause some people either worship the ground Nolan and Bale walked on, or bash Bale for the growly voice, and hate Nolan cause he got a lot of praise and some say it's overrated.
The internet, where religions come to die.
The red leather suit, for chafing the hell out of him (probably).
When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

If Ben Affleck had the courage to stand by his work in this movie I would probably be more willing to accept him as Batman than I am. I've always enjoyed this movie a lot and have had no issues with his portrayal. So fans just have no taste to him or what?
shareBen Affleck had the courage to grow up, become a pretty good director and admit that something he thought was okay when he was 31 had not aged well to someone who is 45, but that he had matured just fine. Comic book movies are aimed at 14 year-old boys. Period.
shareBecause he caved into hater pressure instead of being grateful to the film where he met his wife.

He thought it was crap but it wasn't too bad.
shareI liked it. Bullseye was corny but still kinda fun. I think 5.3 is way too low; I would give it a 6.5-7/10.
He shouldn't be so down on it.
