Did Bundy deserve the death penalty?

i'm in two minds about this... i just dunno...i just think underneath, he may have been a good guy.

Bundy deserved to die.

I know the death penalty is a drastic punishment and it should be used very, very carefully, but in Bundy's case it was 100% proven he commited the crimes he was accused of.

In general, serial killers are among the worst criminals and I don't see any reason why they should be left alive. I seriously don't believe there is any chance of rehabilitation or therapy for such an individual. Serial killers can go years, even decades, without killing but the craving for it is deeply branded into their soul and it is only a matter of time until they let it go once again.

The BTK killer is a perfect example. He didn't kill for ~15 years, till he decided to "play cat and mouse" with the police once more. It's most likely that only the advances in forensic techniques (and his own stupidity) prevented him from murdering once more.

That said, why should serial killers like Bundy be left alive any longer than necessary, i.e. their murder spree is uncovered the most thorough way possible? In my opinion the worth of a man's life is also judged by the respect he has for his fellow men. Someone who repeatedly kills humans to satisfy his perverse lust, which often also includes such heinous acts as rape, torture, mutilation, clearly has not even the slightest respect for life, so I don't see why *we* should have respect for *his* life.

Yes, he deserved the death penalty. His last victim was a 12-year-old girl. He kidnapped her from school, then raped and strangled her. This was AFTER escaping from jail in another state. Bars couldn't hold him.

i think he was scum from head to foot.

reply

No... I've known worse ppl than him

I am his... but he isn't mine

I used to work with a woman who said she thinks she had met Ted Bundy while working at a Ski Lodge in Washington State in the 1970s, although she did not realize who it was at the time.

She said (and this is a well known fact), that Ted believed himself to be superior to everyone else. Because of this, she though that being institutionalized (like in a mental institution) for the rest of his life would have been a very fitting punishment for him.

not reading through the whole thing, but I hope to God this is a damn joke...I'm actually pissed off that someone would think that. I mean, do you even know the details of how he tortured these poor women to inflict as much suffering on them and THEN killed them..? I think the electric chair was too easy on him. He should have been in Solitary Confinement for his entire life, with once or twice a month a HUGE angry inmate who gets to "visit" him for 1 hour.
