How do you feel about Scary Movie a decade later?

I feel as though it has stood the test of time as one of the great comedy/horror spoofs.

I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out, I was 16 at the time. I'm watching it right now and it's STILL hilarious!!

Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!

reply

Has it's moments, but it's no "Airplane!" or "Blazing Saddles" I'll tell you that.

reply

Watching it right now its still funny to me. Defiantly better than alot of the spoofs nowadays.

reply

actually watch Blazing Saddles again-not a single laugh in it-talk about dated!

reply

That's not true. It's opinion. In my opinion Blazing Saddles is hilarious. But I'd say Scary Movie deserves to be mentioned alongside of it (and Young Frankenstein). Is it dated? Well, not many kids will understand the Marlene Dietrich references, but nor would they get the "wassuuup" references in Scary Movie.

The funniest thing about Scary Movie will always be that it is a spoof a movie that is already pretty much a spoof.

reply

it's just as funny now as it ever was.

I watched both one and two today and still loved them. I'm not entirely sure if it's because of my immature sense of humor or if it was simply because I was on pain medication, but I think they've held up.

This will always remain one of my favorite comedies of all times. It has been a few years since I've watched it and was cracking up reading some of the threads (particularly the movie theatre scene). I love horror movies and the Wayans brothers. The spoofs on this movie are some of the best IMO.

I think I re watch it atleast once a year and I still laugh so much. My fav scene is that whole "i ain't gay" scene between ray and bobby, hahah the comic timing between those twho is brilliant.

I don't even normally like parodies or comedies but this one is just golden!

I still think it's funny.

It's really good still.

reply

Still like it as well as part 2, 3 and 4 not so much, they have some funny moments but are rather hit and miss, part 5 was an improvement.

reply

5 is better than 2? Wow, very surprised to hear anyone say that. 3-5 are all garbage really. But back on topic, this movie is still hilarious 13 years later...

It's dated, of course, but beats the ever loving sh!t out of the recent slew of spoof movies.

I have an unbelievably long ignore list.

A pretty good spoof. Ray is the funniest character.
