sharePedophile?
You do know pedophilia is sexual attraction and activity with pre-pubescent children. Not full grown 17-18 year olds who used to commonly marry by the age of 17-18 and have their own families for centuries. It is isn't pedophilia......that would be if he made a sexual advance on a 10 year old.
It's creepy for a 35-40 year old guy to be trying to get with a minor and I think it is against the law in most states.....it just isn't pedophilia. If she is 18 than it isn't even against the law (I can't recall how old her character was).
Well he factually isn't so no, I don't.
sharePedophile is sex or sexual attraction to pre-puberty kids....not 17-18 young women.
Girls regularly married by this age all through history.
He wasn't lusting after a 9 year old.
I'm not going to split hairs and try to make sense of it all. But short answer, no, he wasn't a pedo. Trying to get cute with all the various definitions and legal terms and whatnot is kind of redundant. I guess you could say that by today's definition, meaning, having sex with anyone under 18, he's a pedo. But biologically speaking, no, not even close to it. The word "pedophile" has become a buzz word anyways. It gets thrown around way too often and it's automatically associated with utter depravity and rape.
Truth is, anyone that thinks doing something sexual with a willing teenager is the "worst thing ever" has not seen any of the truly depraved sexual stuff you can find on the internet. And the fact that we teach girls that it's "the worst" thing that ever happened to them is really NOT the best way to handle it in my view, especially if the sex was consensual.
I recently saw a film called Trust (2010) about a girl that meets a guy on the internet and it turns out that he's an older man. She still sleeps with him then later on after everyone tries to convince her that it's a horrible thing, she tries to kill herself. Of course, this movie is not realistic in many ways but its an interesting take on the pedonoia that we've created now days.
At the end of the day, I don't give a flying f$$k who people are sleeping with, as long as no violence, force or coercion is taking place, it's a non-issue.
we (males) grew up awaking sexually at 12ish, and lusting after HOT 14-18 year olds in school.
It's not like we will EVER forget those images and activities we started with.
Yes, we'd still want that, and its totally normal.
If anything, that was the most normal part of our sexual lives, it's all down hill from there: avoiding facing true love as connected in youth, for diseased promiscuity and multiple partner experimentation in college, ruining us for our future mates, and they for us. We can't even conceive how things COULD HAVE BEEN. Not even a baseline to compare. And so we get divorces over 50%, instead of mates for life. We have no idea. Even hard to grasp the meaning of what I just wrote.
Pedophile or not. If decide to put you meat into a minor, your ass is going to jail.
shareThat all depends on the country or state you're in. 16 (and sometimes lower) is the legal age of consent in many nations and several states in the US. And I think 'Angela' is supposed to be 16 in this movie.
In addition to what I posted previously in this thread, I think Lester is not really supposed to be seen as a "pedo". He's sexually repressed and having a mid-life crisis, along with having family problems, and his attraction to Angela was his way of dealing with it.
That being said, technically speaking, I don't think we're supposed to look at him as a "sex offender" of any sorts but rather, as a man that has reached a boiling point. haha...
