How Did You Find This Movie?

When I was 16 or so, I was up late with my parents, just one of those weird nights where no one could sleep, time seem to be passing really quick, and it was 3 in the morning, my mother was still working, my father was downstairs raiding the fridge, and I had been on the computer, another endless night working on my novel. My room being downstairs right next to the living room, I heard this interesting talk, my parents started to argue as to whether Christopher Lloyd was the Professor from Back to the Future, and I came out to settle it, and it was Interstate 60. Of course, I didn't know that then. We changed the channel, my dad eventually came back to it, around the drug scene. It was on Channel 4, or 5, and we were just watching it. And I really liked it. I thought it was really good. But I got tired and went to sleep.

About two years later, I'm in a bookstore, Barnes and Nobles, and I got to their movie section, and there it is, Interstate 60. I see it and the title catches my eye. I read the back and decided, what the hell? I decided to buy it. I brought it home and just absolutely loved the movie.

Four years later, I still watch the movie.

I could have been like 11 or 12 when I first saw it. Randomly found it when switching channels probably around 11pm or midnight. One of our local TV channels (in Latvia, Northern Europe) aired it (which is very random when you think about it) and I immediately got hooked. The premise of being able to wish for one thing and some of the absurd things regarding the interstate left a deep impression on me as a kid. The lure of Amy Smart and her being seemingly unreachable played a huge role as well. Loved the film then and watched it until the end.

Flash-forward 4 or 5 years later and I almost have a dream-like memory of this film. I don't remember the details, don't remember the name, just the fact that it seemed awesome at the time. Decided to look it up. Tried a few times searching for a film which had "route" or "highway" in its title, yet ended up unsuccessful. Almost wasn't even sure if I'm not misremembering something.

So a couple of days ago (now, like ten years later) was watching Tarkovsky's Stalker and, obviously, it has a small similarity with this film, the fact that the characters can wish for one thing to become true. Thought that, heck, it's been years since I have tried to find this film but, hey, might be worth a try. Googled something along the lines of "wish is granted on route imdb" and it was the first thing that came up.

The film seemed a lot better when I was a kid but it was still an enjoyable watch. Some scenes were a bit cheesy, the pop punk felt out of place, yet the overall idea behind it and the absurdities of the trip on the route make it work. Have no problems giving it a 7/10.
