What was your favorite scene?

There were so many! I have seen the movie at least 9 times and I still get a catch in my throat at the dance scene while the hand-held camera spins around Steven and Johnny. The gentle touches really made this a remarkable movie -- the kiss in the tunnel ("You're a better kisser." "Promise?"); the touch in the yearbook office ("Getting a little reckless, aren't you?"); and the touch that Steven gives Johnny at the end ("Be happy, Johnny"). The movie was full of touches that were gentle yet very intense. I don't have a DVD player, but I do have one DVD movie. Yeah, you know it!

i totally love this movie and have had it on video for a few years now. the best scene for me though is definetly at the dance when he is just watching him dance with his girlfriend.

you have to stop the q tip when there is resistence!

yup...I have to agree...the dance scene did it for me too (well did I liked seeeing Brad Gorton's butt as well lol)

I love the scene where Johnny returns from his 'date' with Christina to find Steven pissed and crying in the rain outside his house. I just wanted to take him home, get him warm and dry and give him the biggest hug. It REALLY tugs at my heart when I see him that unhappy because I have been in a similar place and can relate to how horrible it feels to think you've been snubbed - for a woman!

My fav scene is where Steve goes around to John's house and John soaks him with the hose.

Then they go swimming. I love that scene! They just seem to have so much fun, without it getting rude or anything. It just seems so sweet and innocent! And then John's friend arrives and John is sitting on Steve's shoulders! I love that bit! I also thought the first time I saw it that it was the beginning of John starting to come out.

But I also love the scene where John wakes up in Steve's bed naked! Mmmmm! His bum is soooo cute! But its also funny when Steve says about his mam saying that if John makes an honest man of Steve... Its soo funny! And John's reaction!

reply

I feel so sorry for him.

But then John tells him he loves him.

Beautiful!

My favorite is shortly after the dance when John shows up at the Carter house and ends up making his sort of "coming out" talk to Steven. John is not nearly so sympathetic a character as Steven, with the exception of this scene. Here, my heart ached for him.

I watched this film last night and loved it...up until the end anyway. My favourite part was when he touched john at the end and said be happy...i thought john was gonna chase after him and tell the world about them...but no another sad ending...

This is more a moment than a scene but at the wedding, after steven has convinced linda to faint, and she pretends to come to, she gives him the classiest look.

well, I thought it was funny

Every time they kissed was great. And yes the tunnel scene "..you're a better kisser."

Was also great!

my favorite scenes are when steven is being a wallflower and watching john dance with his girlfriend. i dont know why, but i like the music and the way that part was filmed. my other favorite is the part when steven and john are in the pool. the actor who plays john looks so much older then he is intended to be, and i think this scene reminds us of how young and innocent they are.

ooh the scene that really touched me(and made me giggle like a mad cheerleader on crack) was when johnny lightly touched steven's scratches on his effeminate cheek that he gained when he was being chased by the cops. ooooh that really did me! i could watch those few seconds again and again and i still could spell my name backwards with my arms and legs while doing cartwheels!

these are all great examples and i was going to say that sort of "coming out" scene that john has in steven's room near the beginning, its just so good and you really feel for him, his confusion and his realization......but i have to say that i love the very end when linda tells steven she has something to tell him and he says tell me later and she replies: "i know, why don't i tell you later?"

right before you are a ball of different emotions because steven has just come out and johnny has beaten him up to save face.....and when linda says that its like a relief of laughter.....something unexpected.....

i love this movie

I love this movie. You are so right about being able to watch the great moments over and over. I rented Get Real after seeing it on a preview and thought that it looked fun. But, it turned out to be so much more. It was emotionally powerful in so many ways. And to love every scene in a movie is rare but that is what Get Real does, it makes you love each and every scene for whatever reason.

From the first in Stevens' room, running into one another in the school bathroom, the powerful looks at the ball, John showing up dying to get his hands on Steven because every time he sees him he just..., the weekend of duvet stealing, the tunnel "No contest, you're a better kisser." "You promise." "Promise.", Linda fainting ("Hate me, Loath me, just faint") and you all said it the look she gave him is priceless, John coming into the computer lab and softly touching Stevens' scratches from the previous night, OMG the performance of Silverstone in the rain after Johns' date ("You lied to me, you lied to me" ,"Do you love her?" "Steven, I love you")I loved Silverstone’s facial expressions his emotion was GREAT, Meeting at the top gate Johnny says "Guess what?" Steven "you're pregnant". There is so much humor in this film as well as all the other emotions it is just wonderful! The weekend at Johns' house and their embrace in the pool.

All is so wonderful, definitely no choosing just one, how could you. Now I am off to buy this movie, it has to be apart of my collection.

After I read through all those, I could even make up my mind what was my favorite scence! everytime when I watch this movie, I feel it's so unreal, too romantic to be ture, then I became so obsessed and couldn't resist to not watch GET REAL everyday.
If I have to pick up one favorite scene, I guess I have to say the last touch, "Be happy", that brings me to the reality!

I have a lot of favorite scenes in this movie... but one I liked a lot and I saw you didn't mention yet is the one when John and Steven are laughing in the bed and wrestling around for the bear and suddenly the mood changes and they both find themselves aroused because of the proximity of their bodies and then John begins to undo Steven's belt buckle but when Steven tries to kiss him he comes back to reality and runs away.

That scene was one of my favorites because of the incredible chemistry between John and Steven and those glances they shared when both found they were excited, I loved that John was excited too, it wasn't only Steven.
