I saw it. I was 17. Can't remember if I liked it. I had a big thing for Gabriel Byrne then, so I went to see it for him. (Same with Stigmata, he looked so hot in both)

reply

I had such a big crush on him then too, ha.

I saw it in the theater. Back then it was scary, now, so-so. The devil seems so bent on finding the girl, he's careless, in my opinion. Maybe some much to loose.

I did it was on thanksgiving day 2000...I was 13 and me and my mom decided after the family stuff we'll go see Arnold's new flick. It was cool that the times matched up, yet it was so normal at the time to have all this y2k crap. Side note: on new yrs eve I sat in my uncles apartment watching TV and he was doing blow in the bathroom. Haha

I saw it December 99. It was Arnolds big comeback movie after his heart surgery (when it actually seemed quite serious that he may die or not be how he was before).. Peter Hyams was a quality director of solid SciFi movies (Capricorn One, Outland, 2010, Timecop) so seemed like a solid bet for a solid movie. It was ok. Clearly a mash up of Arnold action movies (T2 with all the CG healing and Arnold in protector mode in fact he was pretty much in the Kyle Reese role, gives an idea what hed have been like in T1 had he been reese... and even abit of Commando raiding the weapons room) mashed with the satanic horror genre (Exorcist, Omen, Rosemarys Baby and latter Satan stuff like Devils Advocate).. overall it wasn't great but want bad either. Definitely not one of Arnolds classics but not a dud either

One thing I remember about it was there was a big preview in Empire magazine maybe late 98/early 99 for what the big films of 99 would be and there was Phantom Menace, Eyes Wide Shut, Bond etc and End of Days was the biggie for late winter (all the expected big stuff were prominent on the pages with photos, in depth text etc).. but The Matrix was so insignificant it only had a brief line in the side bar with some brief description like Keanu Reeves returns to the cyberpunk genre in this film from the Bound guys .. literally nothing was expected of it but it went on to completely blow away everything that year and making stuff like End of Days seem pretty insignificant by comparison

Unfortunately I did.
What a waste ofmy time. It really showed the end of Arnie's carreer.
The 2000 thing was ok, nothing awesome, but the movie was so awful it didn't matter.

I know I went to see it. Except for the immediate ending I cannot remember a single thing about it.

I saw it on a date during my senior year of High School. I didn't like it and haven't watch it again to this day.

I really enjoyed it at the cinema (it seemed like Arnie was trying to *act*, despite the far-fetched premise) and the FX (for their day) were cutting-edge. It was a 'twin-concept' movie, that tried to tap into the whole Y2K paranoia, mixed with a healthy dose of 'The Omen'
To be fair, I think the whole fear of the 'Millennium-Bug' was more of an American conspiracy as the internet wasn't that big a 'thing' in the UK, back in 1999 (the majority of Brits still didn't have it til the nexy few years)

The cinema (on opening night) was packed and the audience seem,ed to react to both the (sparse) humour and jump-shocks in all the right places. I imported it the U.S. DVD not long after and used to watch it frequently.

20 years later, I've since sold my U.S Blu-ray (which was fetching good money in the UK, as it still doesn't have a BD release here?) But the movie (invariably) now turns up every few weeks on Digital TV channels. I still enjoy the movie, but more than likely for several 'set-pieces' as opposed to the movie as a whole.

I jerked off at the scene where he was having sex with the girls in bed before merging together when I was a kid... Lack of porn those days.

Oh yeah it was a big Y2k movie think there were a couple of other films about it around the late 90s but can't remember (Strange Days?). Bit like the 2012 Mayan stuff

And I remember now how there were always ads in movie magazines with all the latest R1 DVDs for films that often weren't out in cinemas in UK yet or weren't going to be out on dvd in UK for about a year with the price listed as 'call' on the ads (presumably because they were very expensive)
