Gloria Trillo

Just rewatching the series for the second time and am on Season 3, I totally forgot how in just an handful of episodes the character Gloria Trillo makes one hell of an impression.

Annabelle Sciorra, the actress playing her gave an incredible performance, how she didn’t win an Emmy I’ll never know, I kinda wish they had kept her around for a couple of seasons and extended her arc, she was a great character!

I agree. I wish her character had been on the show longer. Also, that she would have not flipped out so quickly on Tony, acted normal for a longer while before her unstable side showed, build up to things more..

reply

Her arc was complete. I don't see what else they could have done with her.

reply

I agree. She was an intense character.

They wrote her character well and Gloria was great.

reply

I am agree with both of you.
She amazing (and one of the hottest women in the show I must said) but story wise her character good for one season. I can't think about another good storyline without it feels force.

BTW, Gloria remind me a little of Lila West from Dexter.

Except Gloria was a great love of Tony’s. Lumen was Dexter’s. When Tony finds out what happened, he’s devastated. Gloria was an amour fou, while Lila was just fou.

It’s ok to see a character for one season. Sometimes they are so powerful that’s all you need. Making a character go on and on sometimes ruins the story in the long run. I always felt Brody lasted too long on Homeland but fans wanted him forever and for that season maybe even the second, Homeland went downhill.

"Sometimes they are so powerful that’s all you need"

This's the reason why it was good they keep her for only one season.
If I remember Tony even threatens Dr. Melfi after he heard about the suicide. He really loved her.

When she throws the roast beef at Tony, kills me every time.

Just finished watching her story arc last night. A great portrayal of a seriously disturbed woman. I've seen it before, but this time I really focused on how Gloria was a younger version of Livia.

It's amazing when Tony says something like, "I've known you all of my life."

It just hits him over the head that Gloria is a black hole of neediness just like his mother.

reply

That was what was so interesting about Tony, he could recognize that Gloria was exactly like Livia, the same manipulation...yet kept making the same mistake over and over again.
