Paulie is the new boss then?

With Tony being whacked eating dinner, Sil in a coma, it would appear obvious Paulie is the highest ranking member left unscathed.

Both New York and New Jersey were completely decimated come the season finale.

Is he boss material? Kind of reminds me a bit of Phil Leatardo. Maybe not expecting much from him at first at the top of the tree but surpasses everyone's expectations in the role.

Who is left that we know of who could be new Captains, Underboss etc?

reply

Paulie didn't even want to be captain of the Aprile crew. I doubt he would be the guy to take the big chair.

Assuming Silvio didn't recover, I think the new boss would probably be Albert "Ally Boy" Barese. Supposedly they were the largest crew in the family.

reply

Wasn't Paulie promoted at the end of the show to Underboss?

Albert Barese was only "Acting Capo" whilst Larry Barese was in jail.

Would imagine if Larry got out though that he'd be Boss.

reply

I thought it was Bobby as UB toward the end and Larry was in jail for good.

On second thought, it might have ended up being Paulie. Since I suspect the hit on Tony was done by New York - either Butchie or Little Carmine - it seems reasonable that someone with NY connections might have become boss when the smoke cleared. As far as I recall, Paulie was the only one other than Tony who had some relationship with the New York families.

reply

Bobby Baccala was killed buying his kids toys I think. The relationship between him and Jr. was one of my favourite aspects of the show.

Think your right about Larry Barese though.

Find it interesting as to who would fill out the Captain positions. Think it's Benny who was given his button after he almost got killed. Maybe a bit young to be a captain but they never seemed to show many crew members from the Barese side.
Likely someone in that crew would be bumped to Capo.

I'm pretty sure Paulie would be the new boss. There was a bit of foreshadowing in this last ever scene with Tony and Paulie outside of Satriale's. Notes from this scene: Christopher drives by in a silver sporty car, Paulie's look of dread, and after Tony walks away Paulie is all alone sunbathing and the cat(Christopher?) saddles up to him.
In the end, Carlo has made a deal with the FBI. Junior's in a hospital with Alzheimer's. Bobby got whacked. Silvio's in a coma with little chance of ever waking up. Tony is about to be killed..the whole crew has been wiped out..all this means you know who's running North Jersey..Paulie Walnuts and Patsy Parisi.

reply

Albert was nowhere to be found in the final season though. Seriously, watch it again especially during the conflict with Phil Leotardo

reply

Paulie's stint at being the boss would be a short lived disaster. He completely lacks the savvy & temperament to be an effective boss. Paulie seemed best suited as a senior street soldier/ captain and then only when Tony was there to keep him in line.

reply

Paulie is the only remaining member of the made men crew, all the others have died, he is also the oldest and once who has been doing this thing the longest since he used to run with Tony's dad, yet the only one who has survived, kinda funny and ironic.

reply

He survived by the skin of his balls just like when the Colombo's were going at it.

reply

Benny Fazio criminal mastermind

reply

Where does Benny get that moniker from?

reply

Artie

reply

You are assuming Tony got wacked.

reply

"With Tony being whacked eating dinner"

That never happened, except in your imagination, which doesn't count, obviously.

reply

Yes, he did reportedly. At the end of the final episode when the camera fades out. David Chase said he was whacked fairly recently.

Paulie may have been the highest ranking member. That does not, however, mean he became the boss. It doesn't always work that way.

reply

"Yes, he did reportedly. At the end of the final episode when the camera fades out. David Chase said he was whacked fairly recently."

[citation needed]

Also, even if he really did say that, it doesn't matter, because only what was established as happening in the episode, happened in the episode, regardless of what David Chase says. If he wanted Tony to be killed in that episode then he would have had to establish it as happening in that episode some way, which he didn't do, therefore it didn't happen in that episode.

reply

" . . . even if he really did say that, it doesn't matter . . . "

Disturbing.

Your non sequitur is dismissed, and since you don't have any arguments, your tacit concession is noted.

You have a point Maxim. Chase says it happened. It was not shown in the final episode. So was he?

Also, once again- Paulie may have been the highest ranking member after/if Tony was killed. That doesn't mean he was made Boss.

reply

Assuming Tony either gets popped or goes to the can and Sil never wakes up, Patsy will likely be the new boss, with Paulie as street boss while also doubling as capo of the Aprile/Cifaretto crew.

Albert Barese is presumably still capo of that crew and Benny, Walden, and the guy we see tagging along with Bobby towards the end of the show are all probably the new capos.

reply

Probably be Artie because he owns a restaurant
