3 Wise men scene killed the rollercoaster ride

Sucked all the air out of the room. I feel that Ethan Hawke is the star of this movie so a whole scene where we see him sitting and watching others talk sort of breaks the rules of engaging storytelling.

If the scene were to remain included, it should have had Ethan interact in some, conflictive way.

Regardless of this scene, the movie works without it. So he gets a warrant and paid for it, this could have been shot as a phonecall and cash drop off.

It was a much needed sequence as it showed how high up the corruption in the LAPD went. All the way to the top. This was slightly based on Rampart. In real life Jake would never be invited to sit with the top brass. It was not just Alanzo who was evil but the entire PD !

I thought the scene was good. As stated, it showed how high the corruption went. And at the time, it had felt like we hadn’t seen Tom Berenger in a while, so seeing him there was cool

They did cut to Ethan Hawke looking at them and smiling at the joke when they laughed
