Worst movie ever.

I don't know if it is because of the "(TV)", but this movie was the most irritating, stupid, bad movie I have ever seen.
You who like it, what do you compare with? "Glamour"? If so, it's understandable, they have the same quality.

Everything is bad, actors and their lines, "special effects", characters, plot. Everything.

Damn, this movie makes me ill.

Anyway, I understand some people like this movie... so maybe you can tell me why? What is good about this piece of ****

I loved this movie, it's one of my favorites

Acting & script are great, only thing that's flawed are special effects. Obviously makers decided to spend money on character acters instead of pretty picture, and IMO they made the right choice. This movie is magical! :)

imo this movie is way better than King Arthur... that movie just hit a nerve or something and I just can't stand it... i hated the ice scene and Gwenevere bugged the living daylights out of me. (even though I love Kira Knightly)...

this movie portrayed the struggle between paganism and catholicism very well, most movies don't even touch upon it... they just make everyone catholic...

“The most magical adventure of all time.” A wonderful movie and an epic tale. It is profound in so many ways and will stick in our psyche for many years to come.

This is a great movie, I really enjoyed it very much.
Just wanted to say to orioncali that Lena Headey was Guinevere not Keira Knightley. Keira was only 13 in 1998 so would have been to young to be in Merlin, Lena Headey was born in 1976, making her 22 when the movie came out.

life is to short to spend it crying over spilt milk.

reply

Keira Knightley played Guinevere in King Arthur, that's what orioncali was refering to, not the Guinevere in Merlin.

Oops, sorry I read what orioncali said wrong, my mistake. Sorry to orioncali.

I don't know about you but it is certainly one of the better fantasy film pre-lord of the rings and it has one of best cgi done for a made-for-tv-movie. BTW, the conceptual artist in this movie was Alan Lee who was also an conceptual artist for the lord of the rings trilogy.

I thought the comic book store guy was a fictional character.

No matter. I personally loved the movie, even though some of the spfx were a bit dodgy (remember - it was a made-for-televsion production). The actors played their parts well, the story was enchanting and the script was excellent. Not to mention the music - it drove the emotional side of the story very well.

Yes, Baszag, I would agree with your initial statement, "I don't know if it is because of the "(TV)"," Perhaps you should get a new one...TV that is. I like Merlin. Sam Neil is one of my favorite actors, the story was interesting and I watch it often. I don't really need a reason to like it..it's just fun to watch.

It is really interesting how many times we read lines like...worst movie ever. From someone who doesn't like this or that movie... Like anyone has even seen all the movies ever. That reminds me of the line in the movie 2 weeks notice where Lucy says to whoever Hugh played, "You're the most selfish person in the world," to which he replies, "Well that's just ridiculous, do you know everyone in the world."

my god its full of stars

What's up!

This movie is stellar...best TV movie ever.

How can you compare it to LOTR...slight time and budget difference...eh?

reply

I agree completely, Powell65124. If this movie would have had the same resources as LOTR, I think it could have blown it out of the water and I love LOTR. However, there's something refreshing about this kind of movie. It's quality script, acting, etc, and they don't try to fool you into thinking it's better than it really is by jamming every second so full of SPFX that you can't even concentrate on what's actually happening.

This has always been one of my favorite movies ever.

Here's one that falls into that category. I suffered through it once just to see what the *#%@ was going on. Anyone see the Denise Richards flick in which she's romantically pursued by a guy who gets beaten nearly to death by her gang leader boyfriend? A mad scientist finds the kid and puts his brain into a dinosaur. Although it's the slowest giant predator I've ever seen, the carnivorous biped expectedly goes on a rampage, chomping on all of the people who ever had anything against him. In the end, even the scientist (and his assistant, too, I think) becomes a meal, and then Richards takes out the brain, puts it in some kind of bowl filled with chemicals, and hooks it up to a voice box. That way, what's left of the kid who really loves her can say "oh, yeah, go baby, yeah! Oh, I love it when you do that..." while Richards dances around in a skimpy outfit. That's the truth, I swear it, I'm not making this up. BEWARE!

I had a lot of fun watching this... can't really say I can fault it much... yes the effects at times look cheap but it's a TV Miniseries... not a multi million dollar movie!

reply

Don't compare this movie to all those others you've seen
You CAN'T.
It's original, it's dark and interesting.

About the special effects.. First look at the year it was made, then judge.
