I would say that requiem for a dream and the pallbearer for sure, and maybe donnie darko, the company and fight club. but some of those do have kinda of happy endings, and none of them really disturb me very much, so... yeah, don't worry, I'm not crazy, but requiem is only slightly disturbing to me, since it could basically happen to anybody who shoots up in an infected vain... yeah...

shareWow that's a hard question, a lot of the time I feel the director/script has lead you down a certain path. I'd say requiem for a dream is easily the film that's left me emotionally drained and feeling pretty low for ages. Irreversible wasn't pretty either. Generally I'd use "cynical" when a film is absolutely crap and I don't understand the point of it.
The thing I enjoyed the most about "the ice storm" is that the relationships between the adults hadn't evolved any further than that of between the children. They made it look bad that the kids were experimenting yet by the key party at the end they were all practically having affairs!
