Who else thinks this is the best of the three?

You read that right, the BEST of the three. I do think so. I like this kid better than Caulkin, because this kid has something that Caulkin never had. Complete innocence! (well, mostly innocence hehehe) I think the traps in this movie are more believable because of this. The most insane, idiotic trap works, because the kid is so innocent, and he believes that it will! There is no way that the remote control car could have made that jump up the snow bank and over the road, but it works because the kid believes that it will! If you or I tried the exact same stunt with the exact same model car, it probably wouldn't have made it up the ramp. However, this little kid is innocent enough to believe that the car can make it, and so the car does! This is why I like this movie better. The child's complete innocence drives his traps, and it drives this movie!

I saw this movie only once, in a theater on Tuesday night, December 16, 1997. I liked it allright, though not nearly as much as the first Home Alone, which I really liked, or even the second one, which was allright. And no, I don't think it was the best of the three. I think that definitely goes to the first one. However, I did not think the second one was that good because it was simply a rehash of the first one, only set in a different city and with a toy store replacing a house. I didn't think the same thing worked as well the second time, and was pretty certain there would not be a third Home Alone. But then this movie came out, and I did think it was better than Home Alone 2:Lost in New York. That is because it has new and different characters, different villians with a different goal, and is set in January, and takes away the Christmas connections. The rest is still really the same, but these changes I did feel really gave the Home Alone series a needed twist, and was glad this movie was made. And yes, I did think this movie's child hero was adorable and very believable, while at the same time being very resourceful.

Haha, I like that post someone made earlier about Kevin and Alex in a fight. It's horribly saddening, but also funny, and probably accurate. Anyway, I didn't like this one as much when it first came out, but that's just because it was different. Looking back, this one is pretty enjoyable, like that part where they jumped onto that frozen pool because they thought it was a trampoline.

the third one sucked hairy balls, it was soo stupid, plus alex was ANNOYING as hell. the worst part being the remote control car scene, four grown adults couldnt catch a cheap piece of S hit car how fast can that thing be moving anyway. jesus this movie sucked

This one was the best, hands down.
Home Alone 2 sucked. I could hardly sit through it.
And the first one.. was just bleh.

I think this one had more spice in it. It was FUN, and had a pretty good music. To me, this one was more believable. I mean, who really doesn't notice that they left their kid at home, when going on Vacation?
This, however, is perfect. Alex has the chicken pox, and he stays home from school. Mom has to work, and dad is out of town.
That, is believable.
There were a lot of underlying themes involved, and all of his pranks were with regular household items. Other things like adhesive were explained through the house renovations.. etc.

Alex is a very likable character, and Home Alone 3 was more of a family film than the others.

The problem is HA3 is branded as a "Home Alone" movie when it can stand up as its own. And sadly because of it, it has to compete against the nostalgia from the original 2 films.
