Why doesn't this play on Disney anymore??

I used to love this movie, and now remembering, there were so many other "non-Disney Channel" movies that used to play on television. Does anybody remember any of the other movies that used to play on Disney Channel in the 90s?

Susie Q was always one of my favorites.

Disney stopped airing the great movies because of issues

Wish Upon A Star talked about virginity and probably a few other things
Big Girls Don't Cry (I believe they showed this on Disney?)
Suzie Q - alcohol

They were great though and I wish movies were still like this, better to come right out and say it than to slip it in secretively like on Suite Life when the hotel manager was putting up a sign with attachable letters and slipped on them, he held up the letter A and said "Oh, my A!" So it isn't like Disney is trying to get rid of it, they're just hiding it for the most part but it is so corny.

This happens every half generation or so, everyone says that the music/movies/tv/whatever in "their day" was better. i agree that the disney channel movies were better back then (personal faves model behavior wisha upon a star smart house luck of the irish) but, give it 10 years and the tweens'll be saying the smame thing :)

Omg so I was on another board and someone bout up the movie Rip Girls and I was like OMG I loved that movie! I totally forgot about it haha. It had a young Camilla Belle in it too.

Someone mentioned a movie with the Lawrence brothers in it and that was called Jumping Ship. I don't remember it but I saw it under recommendations for Rip Girls.

I think the only Disney orginal movie that they show is Luck of the Irish (which I love) but I wish they would show the others. Because they were REALLY good like

HOUNDED!

OHHMEHHGOSH WHY WON'T THEY SHOW THIS MOVIE??? IT HAS NOTHING BAD OR OBSCENE IN IT, SO THEY HAVE NO EXCUSE NOT TO SHOW IT :( :( :(

It sucks what disney is doing. It's just SO wrong

reply

RIP GIRLS!! I was just talking about this with my friend Jennette the other day!
Anything with the Lawrence brothers was good... remember that show Brotherly Love? I used to watch that ALLLLLL the time!
Susie Q, Wish Upon a Star, The Paper Brigade, P.U.N.K.S.! Man, P.U.N.K.S. was my favorite :)
It's so weird looking back now at all these really famous people like Katherine Heigl, Camilla Belle, and Jessica Alba who were in these movies haha.

I watch Disney Channel UK and I'm 13. The only films some people have mentioned that I have watched in the years I've been watching Disney Channel are Johnny Tsunami, Stepsister from Planet Weird Get a Clue!, Pixel Perfect and The Halloweentown series. It stinks because I love Katherine Hegil and would have loved to see this, but sadly I can't.

Its such a shame that Disney doesn't play this movie anymore because it is a classic. As I'm watching Disney with my little sister nowadays I just have to shake my head because none of the film/actors are good as the stars in the 90's. Man how I miss the good ole' 90's!

Well, my theory is that for a Disney movie it touched on pretty mature areas, such as when Danielle Harris touches her breasts and "virginity" is mentioned...

Because Disney fell on every branch of the Sellout/Stupid Tree on the way down and can only make crap now.

Because the children of now-a-days have dumb taste. They like things that aren't even remotely as cool as the things we grew up with as kids in the 90s. And, being money grubbing greedy people, producers and channel owners play what is appealing. If it wasn't for millions of people like us 90s kids complaining, I don't think Nickelodeon would ever have bought back 90s shows because kids of now-a-days just don't get it. Basically, humor and "good taste" in movies/tv shows has been dumb down.
