And the oscar goes to....

Is there anyone else on this board who think that Edward was totally screwed at the oscars for this movie. Cuba Gooding Jr. for Jerry Maguire won. I. Don't. Get. It. Edward's acting in this movie was top notch. Professional. Almost Perfect. Who votes on this anyway? I know this was a while ago but it still irks me hardcore. Anyone else agree?

Richard Gere was priceless!Ed Norton unreal.I gave it a 9.Were it not for Alfre Woodard, who is not an actress and was mis-cast,the film would be a masterpiece.
Why did they risk the film with her and that feckless Jon Mahoney.
Seen it five or six times!

Cuba Gooding?Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha "burn baby burn ooohhhhh"

I haven't seen Jerry Maguire yet so I don't know anything about Cuba Gooding Jr.'s performance.

But I was very impressed by Norton's and even more so when I looked at his filmography (I've seen most of his movies except for a couple of them maybe) and discovered that it was his film debut!!!

Very impressive!

Yes, Norton definitely should have won for this.

Very smart to cast Edward Norton in that role.

Great choice.

I remember reading that Matt Damon had auditioned for that role but didn't get it. Edward Norton was amazing.

However, I have to agree with Siskel and Ebert on their choice of William H. Macy for being the best person in a supporting male role that year.

I do wish though that Tom Cruise had won for Jerry MaGuire.

Everything about JERRY MAGUIRE was overrated.

Yeah, they're dead, they're...all messed up!

Agree 1000 times over.

No question.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

That's the limitations of the Oscar. A choice of only one must be made. Had it not been for Gooding, who deserved the Oscar even more than Norton, Norton probably would have won.
