Underrated bad ass movie!

I enjoyed every minute of this movie. I don't know how it can be rated so low. Sure, it's a little cheesy, but it's still awesome.

I'd give it an awesome too.

Waaayyy underrated!

reply

totally underrated, I agree. People just don't know what's good :P

reply

deserves a 6.9 instead of a 5.9...

not enough for a 7 though lol

reply

i agree this movie is underrated quite a bit it should be in the high 6's for the average rating MINIMUM.

and in all honesty i think this is one of Bruce Willis best films as Die Hard series aside i think this is his best film as i cant think of a single film he was in that was better than this.

Last Man Standing = 8/10. nice atmosphere and quality action film with interesting characters etc.

EDIT: i forgot about 'The Jackal' (1997) also one of the best Bruce Willis films imho.

i love this one but i tend to lean towards 12 monkeys for his best performance. terry gilliam gave him a list of standard bruce willis things bruce would not be allowed to do (the look, most of his trade-mark stuff, etc.). i thought he did an excellent job of being tough without acting like the tough guy.

Hey, mascot. I need me a BAD TOUCH Krotchy!!

Agreed. I can't believe the critics missed what this was, which was basically a Sergio Leone western set in prohibition-era America. I could have done without the voiceover narration in some parts, and some of the sequences are puzzlingly weaker-staged than in the original movie Yojimbo. But still, an awesome action movie - 9/10.

What's the Spanish for drunken bum?

reply

No doubt, one of Willis' best. Easy 8/10.

reply

Agreed. I really enjoyed it. The fact that I know Fistfull of Dollars, which means the story wasn't any surprising for me, didn't make it any worse.

reply

Yeah. Loved the mix of action/western/noir/gangster. Not sure if any other film mixes all those elements together.

For some reason, films that *are meant* to be over-the-top and not to be taken too seriously, but should just be seen as a fun action flick, always wind up with lower imdb scores than they should get. There's too many people that expect a film to be something more than it was ever trying to be, I guess. =\

I checked out this film after someone mentioned that the makers of Fallout: New Vegas must liked it since there are so many elements lifted from it. Definitely an underrated film, I enjoyed it a lot despite how absurd it got at times.

I just saw LMS for the first time in more than ten years. I had originally given it a rating of 6.

Either I have seen a lot of bad movies since then, or I'm just smarter than I used to be -- because I think it deserves a higher rating than a 6.

But though it has some memorable characters, and some very interesting scenes, and some good directing, it is still not a great movie. I still can't give it more than a 7. Even Fistful of Dollars I only gave an 8.

Yojimbo is a solid 10.

I know all these threads are *beep* old but just wanted to say that it's cool this movie was on netflix! finally got a taste of the badassness will be sure to recommend to anyone in reach. Westerns and mafia flicks are always great but together holy hell

reply

A Western with a mafia theme, combined with a samurai who kills everyone except the undertaker -- that is really great. Even Tarantino and Rodriguez usually leave more people alive at the end.
