The last good Schwarzenegger movie?
I think so.
something like that. it was decent.
imo 'True Lies' was his last great movie.
That is correct. This movie is basically the last true Schwarzenegger movie.
In fact I would say it is one of the last real action movies out the 90's. I say real as in R Rated, big action star, 90's formula, one liners, etc.... After this we basically had The Matrix and all changed in terms of what action movies were supposed to be.
1996 we had this one, The Rock and Broken Arrow as true action films.1997 Had Face Off and Con Air . 1998 had Lethal Weapon 4 even though it was way inferior than the other ones it was a true action movie and then 1999 It was all Matrix and so on.....
Yes, the 90s was the golden age of action movies.

Between taking comedy detours with Junior and Jingle All the Way, Arnold managed to star in one popular action movie in the mid-90s (aside from True Lies). According to IMDB, Eraser is apparently considered by a lot of fans, as being “the last great film of the ‘classic’ Schwarzenegger period, which started in 1982 with Conan the Barbarian.
It’s funny when I read that, since I always had a similar feeling! I think there is something to that argument. Yes, Arnold went on to star in other action films after Eraser, but they feel different somehow. It’s like a metamorphosis took place not long after Eraser. We no longer got the traditional big-budget, frolicking Arnold action films we were used to seeing from him up to that point.
Why is this? What changed after Eraser? Well, Arnold was no longer at his peak of popularity. His reign as a box office king never got as high as it once was. His Terminator glory years were winding down. His action films felt less and less distinctive from one another.
His films didn’t have the fun hook that you could describe in a quick quip anymore – ‘Arnold fights an alien in a jungle’. ‘Arnold goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher’. ‘Arnold teams up with Jim Belushi’. ‘Arnold plays a spy’. ‘Arnold teams up with Danny DeVito’. ‘Arnold plays on a deadly game show’. ‘Arnold goes to Mars’.
As we know, Arnold would return in his signature role as the Terminator time and time again, but that neither did him or his fans any favors.
Eraser doesn’t have the same kind of intriguing description that you could coin for it of a lot of his films. It’s just ‘Arnold is a U.S. Marshall protecting a witness’. That doesn’t have the same flair as his other films. It sounds rather routine in comparison, and that blasé feeling is appropriate for Eraser. It’s not a standout, memorable Arnold action film.
I think End Of Gays was his last good movie.
shareI actually really liked End of Days and the 6th Day. But this was a bit better plus it has Arnold facing off against James Caan.
Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

I'm still waiting for the first good Schwarzenegger movie. It better come soon. He's starting to show his age.
shareEh, good or bad, it's all subjective and matter of opinion anyway.
But yes, on this one I agree with you. I also consider Eraser to be the last REALLY solid Arnie movie. Though I have to say, I like The 6th Day and Collateral Damage. Certainly not as good as Eraser, but still entertaining.
