Who should be the new Judge Dredd?

There's a remake on the way and according to IMDb there's only three years to go!!!

With that in mind, everybody needs to get in here quick and start throwing some casting suggestions around before this thing is cast, wrapped, and underperforms before any of us even have the chance to argue over why Ron Perlman would obviously have been a much better choice than whoever they get to play him.

Unless Seth Rogan signs up, of course.

And the winner is... Karl Urban. Interesting choice.

I'm a fan, so as far as I'm concerned everything went better than expected.

There's a rumor that Karl Urban might play him. He would be alright. Plus I heard the movie is supposed to be closer to the comic so hopefully it's pretty gory. Same goes for the new Robocop that's gonna be coming out. That better be gory as hell too!

Not a rumour - Karl Urban is officially cast.
I think he will do great, he is a chameleon actor, a huge fan of the characther, and has made it very clearly that neither he nor the producers want Dredd's face to be seen on screen. In other words, helmet stays on.

Furthermore, the script is tense, hardcore, and VERY hard R.
It's also true to the comics, nothing in them is contradicted in the script.

The Robocop remake on the other hand, is dead in the water.
All production on it has stopped. Not happening any time soon.

Well that's all good news. I'm alright with a Dredd reboot as long as they do a good job, and I'm not really looking forward to a Robocop one. The original was good enough imo. The only reason I thought it might be good was because of Aronofsky directing but was still worried.

Why does this movie need to be re-made? NO ideas for an original movie?

reply

This crap movie should never be remade, and it won't be.
A new Judge Dredd movie has however been made, and it's a reboot.

Why?
Because Judge Dredd is an awesome charater with great movie potential, a potential that was completely and utterly squandered in 1995.

Want an original movie instead?
Then why the F are you on the board of a bad comicbook adaptation complaining that a better adaptation is being made?!?
Go to the one board of an original movie and rave about that instead, there's countless to choose from.

Karl Urban was Judge Dredd. with no sequels in the works, Dredd could be rebooted again from scratch and to recast the title role.

There were rumors of sequel.
