Pulp vs. Shawshank vs. Forrest

I liked Gump when I first saw it because it had a great gimmick.
But once I got the gimmick, it lost it's interest for me.

I think Shawshank is sort of a paint by numbers effort, and by comparison, Pulp is brilliant with it's dialogue and sense of place (in that it feels natural in an unnatural world, while Shawshank isn't comfortable in it's environment, i.e., overly sentimental in a grim prison setting).

For me, Shaw is didactic (instructing us how to react to the movie), while Pulp is imaginative and funny (with black humor) challenging our elastic minds to follow the weirdness.

It's hard to choose between Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump since they're both great films, but -- if backed against a wall -- I'd probably go with Pulp Fiction.

The Shawshank Redemption is decent but not even in the running IMHO.

Pulp fiction for the win.
