are there any unwoke episodes?

asking for a .....

It was never a political show unless you count Phoebe being a ditzy hippie.

There was the time Monica and Rachel were talking about how hot 5’3 George Stefanoppolis was…..

Mind you no one’s ever said that otherwise. It was the early years and they were trying to get noticed.

Literally a show that the woke hate.

reply

There is one episode where Phoebe uncharacteristically calls a panhandler lazy.

reply

haha. Big fan of the show here, but I can´t remember that episode.

reply

There’s a good reason you cannot remember that episode. I made it all up. I just hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

reply

oh lol. I swear it sounds like something Phoebe would do, which is why I believed you.

All the fat jokes about Monica and how the men are afraid of being thought of as gay or feminine are politically incorrect.

Only to the perpetually offended dullards.

Any of the episodes referencing Chandler's father who became a woman and was played by Kathleen Turner.

reply

Bet she loved having to do that role

As an aficionado of hemp products, and one for over 20 years without turning to worse crap, Ihated the episode where Jon Lovitz showed up as a restaurant owner who was supposed to interview Monica, then got high instead....

They made it out like weed was the worst stuff on Earth and smokers were nothing more than LOSERS and "tools"...

Meanwhile, it's LEGAL NOW, BITCHES!!!!

I thought that was a bit "after school special" rather than real young people in the city... I was living in NYC at the time...

And since that epi, I been picking on Monica... Chandler could have done better!

:)

Haha are you kidding? People often complain now about jokes in Friends, mainly making fun of the gays, and the fats and disregard for Phoebe's sad upbringing. I understand why these jokes aren't cool, and wouldn't make it on today's shows. Fine. But it's a sitcom, and though I don't really buy the "We didn't know better then" excuse (because you would've if you'd given it real thought), I also don't like taking something from a quarter-century ago (yep) and trying to force it into today's lens.
