Do treehouses only exist in movies??
I can honestly say I've NEVER seen one in real life, yet there's a treehouse in just about every other movie!

shareI've seen a few nice tree houses and some crappy ones. When I was a kid we found a square piece of plywood about 2.5x2.5ft and nailed it into a fork in a tree. That was our tree house. LOL. Fun as hell though.
shareI had a tree house in my teens. It was strategically on the other side of a creek and far enough from the house to keep my parents from overly snooping (they were lenient anyway). It was one of my gang's hangouts and, needless to say, wasn't used for saintly activities.
shareI see them all the time..mostly they are built near a tree or on stilts.
Rarely do you see one incorporated into the tree or built around it
The people that have them by me are upper echelon, millionaires
I knew a kid that had one, but it was tiny. Nothing like Bart's or anything. We had a tree that had multiple platforms built in it, but we never enclosed anything. It's actually pretty hard to do, because trees don't typically have large cavities of free space, and it hurts and makes a tree ugly to cut out main limbs. Add to that, building something up in a tree is also hard, and as the tree continues to grow, it will destroy it. I'm sure that's why most people switched to stilt houses for kids instead.
shareI always thought the treehouse in this movie looked unrealistic. It was way too high. It's one thing if maybe the family hired a company to build that treehouse, but it looks like it was done by Henry. Looks like too much work for a little kid.
