should white people apologise for slavery

My initial response is no. Men and women should be accountable for their own actions not that of their forefathers. Im not trivialising what my ancestors or other black peoples ancestors went through but where does it stop. However as a country places like England and America should apoligise if they are to celebrate the great things they did they should also repent for their horrific deeds. What are you guys thoughts on this black or white

For the record, primarily due to this imdb thread mind you, i flew into Harlem, and approached the first locals i saw, and apologized to them directly for slavery.

For their part, they were very receptive and appreciative of my gesture. We went out and got some BBQ, greens, and the like, and really saw eye to eye for the first time ever as we broke bread.

Incidentally, more black people have been enslaved by other black people than have been enslaved by white people, so our consensus was that black people also need to apologize to black people for slavery.

Is overestimating one's own cleverness an attribute of the caucasian race? If so, doesn't this entitle non-caucasoids to restitution?

P.S.: There are no airports in Harlem.
