The Joker episodes are very bad
And don't really fit with the tone. Unless it's something like Almost Got' Im. The other exception is The Laughing Fish, that one was good.

Make Em Laugh may have been pretty soft with the Joker, but all his brainwashed henchmen were hilarious and it made the episode enjoyable for something that was trying to amuse the kids. I don't have a problem with the Joker being a wacky sarcastic prankster but he was far from harmless. In Joker's Favor, his first appearance is intimidating as he stalks a frightened man and later threatens his life in the woods and his family too which established him as the psychotic menace he really is. The Laughing Fish, The Man Who Killed Batman, and Harleguinade likewise showed what a menace he was about threatening people's lives even if he was cracking witty jokes in the midst of it all. Ledger's Joker wouldn't have been as witty about his threats as this Joker or Nicholson's Joker either, but the character has been open to interpretations since his inception and people go either way with him. This show picked all the ways in which he was menacing and wise-cracking and allowed him to have episodes where he could have one of each.
shareI agree for the most part. Paul Dini used Joker way too much, and then as a result used Harley WAAAAAAYY too much as well.
shareI love them all.
"Christmas With The Joker", "Be A Clown", "The Laughing Fish" and "The Last Laugh" are particular favorites for nostalgic reasons mainly. I owned those ones on VHS growing up and they are what got me hooked on Batman. Especially "Christmas With The Joker", which I still watch at some point every December.
I wish the episodes actually ran in the order of which they were made because sometimes the story lines and character development don't make sense. "The Last Laugh" is clearly the intro to the Joker, but "Christmas..." aired first.
Personally, I've always found "Almost Got 'Im" to be overrated. That's easily my least favorite episode with the joker. The one with Hugo Strange was fantastic.
