A plot hole in their time travels

So the movie establishes that whether they go to the same timeline as it would continue into their future or an alternate future when they go back into the past to spawn a new timeline, what happens is there is a second version of them there.

So when 1985 Marty and Jennifer went to 2015 there were two of each. It’s the same timeline they’d have ended up in had it just continued on without intervention.

So when Marty finally goes back to his 1985 there should already be another Marty there. A second Marty in 1985 alternate timeline who experienced everything and exists now.

But that is clearly not the case.

The 2nd movie clearly had 2 Martys instead of the same Marty taking over himself.

So when the 1955 Marty went back to 1985 there should be 2 Martys because that’s a diff timeline now where his parents are richer and Biff is cleaning their car.

Just like how when 1985 Marty went to 2015 there were 2 Martys.

So when he goes back there should still be 2 Martys in 1985.

This is a huge flaw in the otherwise spectacular movie.

Now I know the usual prowlers will chime in here saying it’s not but they’re wrong and ignored.

It’s clearly a plot hole now.

He did return to another Marty.

He watched another Marty, who was part of a richer family, use the time machine to escape terrorists.

It's like you never paid attention.

It’s like you didn’t read or didn’t understand what I wrote.

The timeline wasn’t handled well.

There’s a lot of inconsistencies in how the multiple timelines are presented and handled and there’s plot holes too

It’s still a great fun entertaining movie but it has issues.

Your entire post is about there is no 2nd Marty.

I answered that. So what the fuck are you talking about I didn't understand.

You answered your own question when you said "entertaining movie." That's what it is. No more no less.

When you're going to write a story about time travel there's going to automatically be inconsistencies. The general audience automatically understands that and accepts that for the sake of a fun story. This isnt a science and physics documentary. It's an adventure comedy.

Get off your high horse, we're all out of donkeys, jackass.

You must be one of those redditors for sure. I mean, just read your own post. Full of arrogance and annoying qualities.

You didn't understand the question, didn't read properly and dismiss things because it is beyond your understanding as "entertaining".

Well, some of us like to think more and discuss logical topics about fantasy topics like this. You don't have to participate anymore. Let someone else who is interested respond instead of filling a thread with your drivel.
Good bye.

Then go talk about your silly quibbles with ChatGPT. It will validate you all day long. Isn’t that what you really want?

He just can't think "fourth-dimensionally".

reply

He's having enough problems with the first three dimensions apparently too...

🤣

The biggest plot hole is why you posted this on the Part 3 board!

But seriously, I think the Delorean can only travel along it's own timeline / path within the multiverse, so it will return to Marty's 1985.

reply

Ikwym. The movie plays loose with the time traveling rules.
