Very average, retread of the first with huge plot holes.
Couldn't agree more. All in all it was passable enough but it just failed to capture the wit, energy and the genuine surprises of the first movie. After all who didn't jump out of their seat the first time the Library Ghost suddenly transformed in to a terrifying skeletal apparition?! I also think their was a sense of de ja vu with the Statue of Liberty walking through the streets of New York. It was clearly an effort to recreate the epic spectacle of Mr. Stay Puft from the original. It just felt tacked on as was the inclusion of the Mayoral aide played by Kurt Fuller who might as well have been Walter Peck Mark 2. Also, in regards to plot holes, the story revolving around the Ghostbusters being driven out of business due to being plagued by lawsuits and court orders was just ridiculous. We're supposed to buy that the people of New York had become convinced they were the victims of an enormous hoax, even though a crack appears in the road outside Dana Barretts apartment building, and people are left covered with marshallow after the destruction of Mr. Stay Puft and that's just for starters.
