Mischievous?

Thought it was original how they portayed the "aliens" in this movie as tricksters, at least from the psychological perspective of Whitley's memory of them. They're literally dancing and slapping high fives and fooling around with him. I did read the book by the way, but that was years ago and I don't remember if the real Whitley Strieber describes them this way. Only that they are an enigma in every sense of how they operate.

Having seen the film first, then later reading the book, I found "artistic license" compounded in the film making.

In other words, nothing toward the end of the film is found anywhere in the book from what I remember.

Thanks. I do need to read it again. The ending where he drives to the forest to see the aliens did feel to me like it was the director's idea or tacked on by the screenwriters.

In one sense, it sounds like Whitley and the little blue folk shared 'an enigma' in common.

Hmmmm.

The visitors were certainly an enigma to Whitely.

They were probing his mind.

He was the dreamer.
