the Crises on Infinite Earth tv event (that featured the likes of Routh as returning as Superman, Miller cameoing as DCU Flash, and even Robert Wuhl as Knox) obviously helped this happen

I think they could pull it off. No idea how they're actually gonna do it but I'd imagine a body double will do the actual combat fighting in the Bat suit except for like the close up parts, then have him of course be seen in the suit with the mask off. Could even use that Lola technology to make him look younger for flashback scenes if the writers decide to include it. I'd like to see it.

"On June 23, Midnight's Edge unveiled Mikey Sutton's live-action HBO Max Batman Beyond scoop; now, merely two days later, a significant update has arrived. Apparently, AT&T is feasting on the idea of the Joker being the central villain in it. That may sound like an unimaginative cash grab given the immense popularity of the Joker but there is actually an artistic reason for this: a live-action adaptation of the Return of the Joker animated film. What was originally planned for HBO Max could now be a theatrical release depending if certain pieces fall into place. First, AT&T sees Tim Burton helming this project as the potential for a billion-dollar blockbuster, much larger than HBO Max. Having Burton reunite with Keaton could be box-office dynamite; if done well, it would go nuclear. However, what about the Joker? Sutton has been hearing about discussions for Johnny Depp as the Joker so much lately that he was convinced they were targeting him for Matt Reeves' Batman trilogy. That might not be the case. They haven't negotiated with Depp yet but Sutton was told WB is planning on nabbing him for Batman Beyond as the world's most famous psychotic clown. However, it all begins with Keaton. Sign him first, then Burton, and Depp will be checkmate."

interesting .. so Keatons role in the Flash could lead to the much desired 3rd Keaton/Burton Bat movie (with Depp as the joker - obviously another one different to Nicolson. maybe his son lol). that would easily be a return to Dark Knight box office for batman (that is if theres still a film industry in a few years)

talking of covid Im sure i read somewhere that the reason unlikely stuff is being announced now like Synders JL, Keatons return etc is due to the pandemic creating a lot of uncertainty about the future of movies so studios are focusing on sure fire stuff they know fans want that probably wouldve never have gone ahead were it not for whats happened and as a result big names are signing up for stuff they normally wouldn't do or thought they were done with (like Keaton coming back to batman etc) and that studios will also be hastily greenlighting a bunch of stuff that was in development hell/cancelled a while back (so maybe expect to see more unlikely projects being greenlit like Alien 5 which was newly rumoured a few days ago , Tarantino Star Trek, etc )
