The one officer I've thought was a total prick was Joe Frentess from Des Moines, IA (Season 14), he was the officer who pulled over a young male and his buddies for a minor traffic violation and while dealing with the perps he was being a total jerk the whole time yet the perps were trying to be as kind and respectful towards him, I think that was the only episode he appeared in.
Another police officer who I thought was somewhat of a jerk was Officer Paul Genuardo of Fort Worth, TX (Season 14), he was the officer who arrested an older white male for robbing a woman at a convenience store, Officer Genuardo wasn't as mean as some of the other officers but appeared to be showing no sympathy towards the suspect crying and whining about him getting caught, I was happy that the money he robbed from the convenience store was recovered.
I didn't have any problem with Genuardo. I didn't feel sorry for the suspect at all. I didn't pay attention to him when the suspect was whining, although I do like it when cops show empathy for even the worst criminals. It shows their human side, in my opinion.
I also didn't feel sorry for the suspect at all and was glad he was captured, I didn't have a problem with Genuardo acting a little aggressive towards this particular criminal but felt he could've asked the suspect what his problem was, I couldn't even hear what the suspect was saying because he was whining, I think he realized he's in a world of hurt and trouble because of what he did.
Did Genuardo ever appear in any other episodes, I'm just glad it wasn't Brian Clark who dealt with this criminal, then again I think Genuardo works swing shift and Clark works graveyard shift.
I was glad they caught him too. I don't think I heard the suspect say anything except whine very loudly. I too agree he knew he was in so much trouble because of what he did. He apparently went to the store regularly and often wore the same clothing. I don't know what caused him to snap.
Genuardo didn't appear in any other episodes, to the best of my knowledge. I'm glad Clark didn't deal with him too. There's a 50/50 chance he'd be a jerk, in my opinion.
I remember Genuardo mentioned he has done other robberies before, I forgotten all about the suspect wearing the same clothing while entering the store regularly, I thought he was an idiot for robbing a place he was regular at, I think he was looking for his next fix of crack cocaine since he had a crack pipe.
If there was no camera I can picture Clark telling this suspect to STFU or stop being such a whiner.
He probably robbed for more drugs, that's my guess.
Another segment where I thought Clark was a jerk, was the one from season 17 where the two black males started shooting at another man. When the two didn't put their hands up when ordered to, he threw them to the ground. I didn't have a problem with that, but he seemed very arrogant and aggressive throughout.
On the other episode with Clark was that the one where two black males got pulled over in a station wagon and appeared to be gang members? If so I remember that one and agreed he was a jerk in that one, I didn't like his arrogant, aggressive behavior in that one, also were there 2 other black males that ran out of the vehicle while Clark did a traffic stop on that vehicle?
Yes, they were in a station wagon and were gang members, and yes, 2 other black males ran out of the vehicle which prompted Clark to yell, "Stop!" repeatedly.
I don't remember finding myself feeling too sorry for the criminals getting arrested in that clip because I don't like seeing people perform drive by shootings, I remember the suspect claiming that the judge isn't gonna believe him.
Looking back I feel the reason why I thought Officer Genuardo was somewhat of a jerk is because he didn't show any sympathy towards the suspect whining and that the suspect's sad whining didn't mean anything to him, this was based off how I've felt when I first saw the episode, now I can understand why Genuardo wasn't having any of the suspect's whining and do applaud him for not being disrespectful towards the suspect.
I'm sure Genuardo or any officer for that matter wouldn't put up with a suspect whining constantly. I don't think he was disrespectful towards the suspect either.
I don't know this particular officer's name but another officer who I thought was a jerk was the one from Palm Beach, Florida (Season 22) where the police did a traffic stop on a red Cadillac with three black males, the officers seemed to be cool with the suspects at first, then when they saw a gun hidden underneath the driver's scene he starts screaming at the driver angrily despite the driver still trying to be cooperative towards the police, what was odd is the passenger officer's name was listed but not the driving officer's name, the passenger officer was cool while the driving officer was a jerk.
I think his name was Brian Cullen. I didn't care for him either and something rubs me the wrong way about him. He totally overreacted and he didn't need to scream the way he did at the men. I honestly think that he would panic simply because of the race of the suspects and a gun in the vehicle. They were cool the whole time. One of them was a convicted felon and got arrested but still, that was very aggressive by the officer.
I have seen other episodes where the officers find a gun in the vehicle and remained professional about it, Brian Cullen strikes me as someone who has a temper, I thought it was very unpleasant seeing hm scream at them the way they did, I do notice that some people of color get treated differently than others, I never thought the suspects were being disrespectful or aggressive towards the officers at all, I agree the driver was a convicted felon, I wonder if the passengers also got arrested or not.
Most officers are professional if there's a gun found or a potential one. Cullen does seem to have a temper. The suspects were indeed cool throughout the whole incident and weren't disrespectful and aggressive. I think at least one of the passengers was released when Cullen warning about deputies seeing guns and how they're worried, as apparently the area has had shootings.
Another officer who I thought was a bit of an ass is Officer Jim Haman of Brevard County (Season 19) where he arrests a young man for having crack cocaine in his mouth, he also tells the suspect that it makes him angry when people try to hide drugs and eat it in his presence.
I do remember Haman appearing in another segment where a young couple got pulled over and one of them had weed, you're right that he does have a no-nonsense personality and reminds me somewhat of Rex Evans of Houston.
I just rewatched the episode with the crackhead and looking back I realized Jim Haman isn't really such a bad police officer at all, I do like how he's not afraid to be straight up while dealing with the criminals
I remember feeling sorry for the crackhead because when I first saw the episode I was going through some problems with a co-worker who was being rude and snobby towards me (yet she is being nice to our other co-workers), me not being able to get respect from this co-worker is pretty similar to this suspect not being able to smoke some crack, oddly my co-worker who I was having issues with got fired for no call, no show! Fortunately I'm in a better state of mind now than I was back then.
I remember Haman claiming he saw the suspect go to one of the local drug houses, I remember he was talking greatly about the drug problems the area was having, since we had extreme wildfires on the West Coast during the late Summer season I lost sympathy for the suspect tossing out a lit cigarette butt and it was in the middle of a severe drought too.
During the past few years one of my biggest pet peeves is people tossing out lit cigarette butts out of their car window, especially during a severe drought, we had wildfires caused by people tossing out their lit cigarette butts out the window.
I don't agree with what some people said about Officer Kelly Simpkins (sp) from Brevard County, FL (Season 20) on YouTube but I remember on YouTube a lot of people posted a lot of mean comments on what a jerk he was for arresting a man with a crack pipe and for violating his probation, from my perspective I thought Officer Simpkins was stern but calm, polite and respectful towards dealing with the suspect, I don't understand why people were posting harsh comments about him when the episode was available on YouTube.
The episode I'm talking about was the one where Officer Simpkins calls the suspect's parents and asked if they could come and get him, unfortunately they refused and don't want anything to do with him because he won't get himself clean.
I like Simpkins and didn't have a problem with him. He was cool and respctful throughout. I felt bad for the suspect because of his habit and that his parents didn't want anything to do with him.
I thought it was sad that neither his parents nor his wife and two children don't want anything to do with him, that made me sorry for him, I also liked Officer Simpkins and wish he appeared in more episodes.
I normally like Officer Antonio Maldonado (Fort Worth, Seasons 12 and 14) but I thought he was really mean and aggressive on the episode where he was pursuing a crew cab pickup truck, while apprehending the suspect he was constantly yelling at him and using force at him despite the suspect being compliant, I felt Officer Maldonado needed to calm down a bit in that episode, I don't exactly feel sorry for the suspect since he was driving through people's yards while trying to get away.
I like Maldonado too but didn't care for him nearly as much in that segment. I didn't like him overreacting every time the suspect tried to move and felt he was using excessive force and also didn't like him raising his voice when the suspect wasn't giving a clear answer to one of his questions. This was one of the few segments where we didn't hear the aftermath of why the guy ran.
I also don't get why the suspect ran either, I wish they would've gone into the reason why he ran, they didn't find any drugs on him, I didn't think the suspect tried to resist once he'd gotten captured by Maldonado, I felt Maldonado needed to calm down while apprehending the suspect, normally Maldonado is calm and respectful while dealing with the suspects, my favorite Maldonado episode was the one where he dealt with a woman who'd gotten ripped off while purchasing crack from her neighbor.
I don't recognize the Hillsborough County episode from Season 24 where the guy was at the motel trying to break into a car, I am interested in watching that episode.
I wonder if the car might have been stolen. I just don't see someone leading a lengthy chase across yards for nothing at all.
I liked the Maldonaldo segment too where the woman got ripped off for buying crack.
The Hillsborough County segment was in the same episode where the guy from Springfield, Missouri had a fight at a convenience store and later led police on a short chase and lies about being jumped. The woman from Savannah, Georgia who got arrested for drugs, messing up her chances of getting into the Coast Guard is also in that episode.
I do remember the Savannah, Georgia episode where a young woman got arrested for drugs, I remember feeling sorry for her that she had to get arrested and won't be able to get into the Coast Guard, I also remember her claiming she has a toothache, I remember the officer's remark about the "police ants"
Another segment where I thought the officers were jerks was the season 24 segment in Hillsborough County where the guy at the motel who was trying to break into a car while the owner was charging the battery. I thought both the male and female were arrogant throughout and the suspect seemed very confused about what was happening. They both took him to the ground. I especially didn't like it when the female officer rudely interrupted him as if she knew everything that happened. The owner later declined to press charges.
I just watched the episode you mentioned from Hillsborough County (Season 24) where a guy was trying to break into a vehicle while the owner was charging the battery, I definitely agree Officer Teddy Perez was very arrogant and a bit short tempered while dealing with the suspect who seemed very confused with what was going on, I also agree Officer Feeney was rude and arrogant towards the suspect as well but not as bad as Perez, I felt somewhat sorry for the suspect because of the way the officers were treating him, even the third officer was a bit arrogant as well.
Yeah. Both Perez and Feeny both treated the situation horribly. I remember Perez arrogantly asking him, "You want to be treated like this?". The guy seemed drunk or high out of his mind. He seemed like he didn't know what was happening. I personally thought Feeny was ruder, although they were both almost as equally. Even the victim seemed to think the guy wasn't right at all.
I thought it was nice seeing the victim not press charges because he felt some degree of sympathy towards the suspect, you can tell Perez was disappointed about the victim refusing to press charges, seems like Perez and Feeny had no patience dealing with the suspect.
Usually, you don't see victims refuse to press charges, but like I said earlier, the guy was either drunk or high. I also noticed the female deputy yelled at him when he put the hands off the cruiser and the third deputy yelled at him for not putting his feet in right away.
Perez did indeed seem frustrated that the victim didn't cooperate fully and that the only charge was minor. If the suspect complied, he could have easily been released, and a warrant could have been issued later.
Do you remember an old Fort Worth episode from Season 12 where Jim Grow and Brian Clark arrested 2 drug dealers in a seedy apartment complex? I remember both Jim Grow and Brian Clark's personalities contrasted from each other, Clark was very short tempered and belligerent towards the 2 drug dealers while Jim Grow was calm and good natured in dealing with the two drug dealers, I remember Officer Grow found it humorous that they had a bible inside of their vehicle, I'm glad it was Officer Grow who was the lead officer instead of Brian Clark.
I didn't really feel any sympathy for the two crack dealers since one of them came close to run over the officers while the other crack dealer was hiding in someone else's apartment complex and even tossed the crack inside a noodle box.
Yes. I really liked Jim Grow as an officer. I remember him saying how you have to be on your toes and be careful because suspects might try to kill you and he also said later during the segment that it reinforced what he said earlier. I also agree that Clark was a bit belligerent during the segment. I liked Grow saying how he thought it was funny they had a bible and told the suspects to read it before they attempt to do something like that. I also liked how he said "Deeelin!" before he got out of the car. I didn't feel sorry for the suspects either as they likely got more charges by trying to run the officers over.
Grow also appeared in another segment where a middle-aged black male claimed 2 women stole his car in a convenience store parking lot. When Grow finds the car, the one suspect puts up a fight with him. He was very calm there too! I remember the funny statement the female suspect about the man wanting the female to wipe his booty. Clark was also the backup officer in the segment and thought the statement was funny too. One of the few times I liked Officer Clark.
I've forgotten all about Jim Grow saying "Deeelin!'" before getting out of the car, I remember finding that to be funny, I can see why Officer Grow would tell the suspects to start reading the bible before attempting to do something like that, I also remember Officer Grow stating you have to be on your toes and be careful and that was exactly what he had to experience, I thought Officer Grow was a good police officer and liked his sense of humor and how he handled intense situations.
I haven't seen the other Officer Grow segment where 2 women stole his car in a long time, I do remember the female suspect claims her victim tried to go after her booty which I thought was interesting, I don't remember Officer Clark appearing in that segment but definitely remember Officer Grow, I find Officer Clark to be a decent cop when he's not dealing with an intense situation, I remember one of the females fled the scene.
Did Officer Grow only appear in 2 segments? I really liked seeing him, other officers from Fort Worth (Season 12) I liked are Jerry Dalton (secondary officer in the episode where a crackhead tries climbing over a fence while fleeing from Officer John Ost and first officer in the segment with two Hispanics breaking into a vehicle and one of them strikes an officer in the face).
I agree Officer Clark isn't so bad when he's not in intense situations, most of the episodes he appears in he's a total jerk.
I liked Dalton and Ost too. I think Fort Worth had some of the most likable cops. I remember Dalton saying if he was suddenly rich tomorrow, he would still work. He'd seemed to love his job.
John Ost was a great cop too. He seemed very calm and polite dealing with criminals.
I agree Fort Worth had a lot of likable cops, especially from Seasons 5, 12 and 14, I'm glad to see Dalton seems to enjoy his job even if he became rich, I also liked Officer Ost, he was definitely very calm and polite while dealing with the criminals, I especially remember the episode where Ost and Dalton arrested a crackhead who tried to flee from the police.
What are your opinions on Officer Jeff Ferner from Albuquerque, NM? (Seasons 12 & 15) While I thought he had a no nonsense attitude I liked him because he wasn't really mean about it, I liked how he was nice enough to not arrest one guy who drove a transvestite around that ended up purchasing crack from an undercover officer, I know the area he patrols in is a very high crime area (the Southeast area of Albuquerque).
He was a decent cop, if not being slightly arrogant sometimes. I liked some of his quips, like when he told the one suspect who stole the bike during a sting, like him saying "You've been to Disneyland and they say "you must be this tall to ride this ride", "Well you're certainly not tall enough to ride this bike".
I thought Officer Ferner being slightly arrogant was fun to watch I do have to admit, I remember some of his quips cracked me up like the Disneyland line where he claims the suspect is not tall enough to ride this bike, I don't feel sorry for those getting arrested in the bike stings because I can't stand bike thieves (I've had 2 bikes stolen within a year while they were locked up outside at work and home).
I know I'm never using a cheap bike lock to lock my bike up again that's for sure, I remember many years ago I had 3 bike lights stolen off of my bike while it was parked and locked outside of my job.
Speaking of Jeff Lower there was one Season 14 episode where I thought he was cool in, it's the one where a young male tossed out a chapstick container filled with crack cocaine while the police were doing a traffic stop on him, fortunately Lower was nice enough to let the suspect keep his grandmother's vehicle on her driveway when he and many other police officers could have easily seized his grandmother's vehicle since it was used in a felony (in the State of Florida if you use your vehicle in a felony your vehicle will be seized and confiscated), I thought it was cool seeing Lower show sympathy towards the suspect's grandmother since she needed it to get around due to her being crippled.
