The one officer I've thought was a total prick was Joe Frentess from Des Moines, IA (Season 14), he was the officer who pulled over a young male and his buddies for a minor traffic violation and while dealing with the perps he was being a total jerk the whole time yet the perps were trying to be as kind and respectful towards him, I think that was the only episode he appeared in.
Another police officer who I think is arrogant is John Mathis of Boise (Season 19), he was the officer who arrested 3 females (2 had a restraining order against each other and one was hiding underneath a truck), he also was the one who arrested a male for threatening his ex-wife and her new boyfriend after she filed a restraining order against him, I remember Mathis got butthurt over this suspect telling him they have to speak to his attorney.
I'm not a fan of him either. I especially disliked it when the one female tried to pull away and he went totally ballistic. I disliked it, even more, when the woman says the drugs he found were planted and he responds rudely & arrogantly with "of course those drugs were planted". I felt uncomfortable watching and feel like he might be worse than Joe Frentess, and it's pretty hard to be worse than Frentess.
Like I said in an earlier post, I had no empathy for the man who threatened his ex and her new boyfriend, but I definitely think he was a jerk in that one too. Part of me thinks Mathis's anger was justified in that case, but I'm still not quite sure.
I thought Mathis was better in the episode with a guy stalking and harassing his ex-girlfriend than he was dealing with the females in a pickup truck, I don't think Officer Mathis is quite as bad as Joe Frentess but he definitely was an ass, I didn't enjoy watching the episode with Mathis dealing with those 3 women because he was so arrogant and obnoxious while dealing with them, also didn't one of the females have like a $50,000 warrant or something like that?
Makes me wonder if she ended up going to prison or not, on your previous post I agree it is hard to be worse than Joe Frentess, even my mother was shocked and appalled by his aggressive attitude.
It wouldn't surprise me if she went to prison, but I'm betting maybe 2 years, as the crime was probably small in nature.
In some ways, I want to give Frentess the benefit of the doubt as he only appeared in one segment. I'm just wondering if he had a bad night and was angrier than usual.
I do feel 2-3 years would've been an appropriate sentence for her, I agree Frentess could've been having a bad night and was angrier than usual in the one segment he appeared in, it would've been interesting to see him in another episode.
As for Villarreal-Dowlearn I feel the episode where he dealt with a middle aged parolee was one of his bad nights and the episode where him dealing with a guy tossing marijuana in the bushes was one of his good nights.
I thought Villarreal-Dowlearn had some serious anger issues dealing with the parolee and needed to calm down, I was happy he didn't act like that towards the guy tossing the marijuana, he was upset with him though but never acted belligerent or hostile towards him.
I do have to laugh when some criminals turn a misdemeanor crime into a felony.
It would've been interesting seeing Joe Frentess in another episode, I wonder how the camera crew felt about him, it's not easy judging by a police officer from one episode you see, I feel they deserve to be on at least 2 or more episodes in order for people to form an opinion on them.
I agree he had anger issues dealing with the parolee. I understand you have to sound like an authority figure in the job, but the suspect was complying, even at a slightly slower pace.
You could tell he was a little upset with the guy tossing the weed but at least he was cool.
It reminds me of the time in season 19 in Brevard County Florida, where the young man ate the weed in the back in the patrol car, and the deputy told him "You just turned a misdemeanor into a felony" and lectured him on what happens if you commit a felony.
I think Frentess should have been on another episode too. About Frederick Ferguson, who you also didn't like in the one segment, I thought he was cool in dealing with the suspect who assaulted his mother over the TV channel being changed, and I liked the story he gave at the beginning in which a man shot his brother over onions on a hamburger.
I felt the officer dealing with the parolee should've been more patient dealing with him since he was complying at a slower pace, that only caused the suspect not wanting to comply once he got aggressive towards him, I can see myself getting a little upset over the guy tossing the weed myself if I were a police officer, I'd be like "what were you thinking doing that".
I totally forgotten all about the Season 19 episode where a young man ate the weed in the back of the patrol car, didn't he end up not taking the suspect to jail? I remember being shocked and appalled by the suspect eating the weed when he could've just been more honest about it, I don't blame the officer for giving the suspect a lecture.
I couldn't remember if Ferguson appeared in another segment but do remember the episode where a guy assaulted his own mother over the TV channel being changed, he sounds like someone with major anger issues because I could never do that to my mother (who's been my greatest support), I remember Ferguson giving out the story on a man shooting his brother over onions on a hamburger.
Dowlearn should indeed have been more patient with the parolee. The suspect definitely became more on edge when Dowlearn became aggressive. I wonder if the suspect was in fear of his life?
I'd do the same thing if someone tossed weed. I'd too be like "What were you thinking".
I was shocked too when I saw the man eat weed in the patrol car. The suspect was very nervous from the start. His Mom picked him up and admitted she only saw him use cigarettes and had no clue about using weed. I hope he learned his lesson.
Yeah, the guy who assaulted his mother probably had anger issues. He later resisted arrest and it took 4 officers to take him down.
I wouldn't exactly say this officer was a jerk but I do find David Sims of Palm Beach County, FL (Season 14) to be a bit arrogant, especially in the segment where he arrested a guy with a knife on a bicycle at a convenience store, the guy was totally whiney and Sims got a little arrogant and unsympathetic towards the suspect, it turned out the suspect was out there with a knife for the past hour-hour and a half according to the store clerk, he was in another segment with a woman who was driving a stolen car and he wasn't quite as bad in that segment.
I also thought that was a funny story Sims made about he thought he was going to be having New York pizza but his friend ordered Domino's, I would've been pretty disappointed to be in that situation, on the episode with the bicyclist wielding a knife I wonder what his charges were?
Sims isn't as bad compared to some of the other officers I've seen, I don't dislike Sims but he does come across a little smug, I wonder what that episode would've been like if Jeff Lower had to deal with the knife wielding bicyclist? Sims does have potential to be a bit like Lower but thankfully is never as mean as Lower.
I didn't have too much of a problem with Sims' smug personality, he does seem to be a likable police officer on the show, I would also take Sims over Lower.
I wish Sims would've mentioned what the suspect was being charged with, I also wonder why the suspect would be outside the convenience store with a knife, I also remember the suspect was such a whiner and I'm glad his father or stepfather put the suspect in his place the other night.
I was glad too. Sims went inside the convenience store to ask what happened and the people were shocked about why he would be there for a half-hour outside with a knife.
It made me wonder if the suspect was planning to do a robbery at the convenience store or not, I bet you he was glad he got arrested for another charge instead of robbery, I thought the suspect was a whiny punk with an attitude, I imagine if Lower was in the episode he would've been a lot meaner towards the suspect.
It wouldn't surprise me if he was planning to rob the store. I too bet he was glad that he wasn't going for robbery.
I know Lower was calm in season 11 and very mean in season 16. It's been a while since I've watched his season 14 episodes. Was he that mean in season 14?
Lower was a bigger jerk in Season 14 but not as bad as he would be in Season 16, he did seem more arrogant in the Season 14 episodes, I liked Lower the best in the Season 11 where he was more calm and humorous, did you know Lower got arrested in 2007 for embezzlement?
I Googled him once and I did find out about his arrest for embezzlement.
He seemed to get worse with each passing year. He was so aggressive and mean in season 16, pretty much being a jerk. I think he was a jerk in every one of his season 16 segments.
I only remember 2 episodes Lower appeared in on the Season 16 segments, he was somewhat kinda mean in the Season 14 segments but not totally hateable compared to what he was in the Season 16 segments, especially the one where they did a traffic stop on 2 males in a SUV and one of them had a crack pipe.
I was shocked to find out he'd gotten arrested for embezzlement, I heard he stole money to get supplies for his softball team that he coaches.
I remember on one Season 14 episode he claims he has took his team to the championship to where they won, I sure hope he wasn't an abusive coach (I wouldn't be surprised if he was one).
Do you remember a Jeff Lower segment from Season 14 where he did a traffic stop on a big maroon car that committed a burglary, it was 4 people (3 males and a female and the female was driving), they had some stolen property in the trunk of the car and they went over to the house where there was a bunch of stolen property inside.
I remember him saying about his team winning the championship too. I too hope he wasn't abusive towards players, although based on the way he gets mean with suspects, it wouldn't surprise me at all either.
I do remember the traffic stop/stolen property segment too.
How did you feel about Lower in the segment with the traffic stop/stolen property? I thought he was a bit of an ass in that episode but he wasn't at his meanest, I would hate to see Lower get mean and abusive towards players, especially when they don't play as well as he wants, I can see him getting mean and angry when the little league players don't play as hard as he wants them to.
I agree when you're around kids you don't want to get mad too often, I know he was a successful softball coach since he was able to inspire the little league softball players to perform their best, I'm surprised to see Lower be nicer towards the suspect who put a knife to his roommates' throat than he was dealing with the 4 suspects with the stolen property in their vehicle considering he was in a much more intense situation with the suspect putting a knife to to his roommates' throat, I felt sorry for his roommate because he seemed like a nice guy and was hesitant about filing charges against his roommate, on the stolen property episode did all of the suspects get arrested on that episode?
He must have been successful if his team won the championship.
The knife to the roommate's throat was indeed an intense situation. Lower was stern but calm while dealing with him. The roommate seemed like a nice guy too. I noticed the man with the knife seemed intoxicated and even kicked the patrol car's window.
I can't remember if all the suspects got arrested or not.
I feel bad for the kids who found out their coach (Lower) got arrested for embezzlement, I thought Lower did a good job dealing with the suspect putting a knife to the suspect's throat, he was stern yes but handled the situation very professionally, I thought it was cool that Lower let the suspect be able to wear the handcuffs up front after he found a way to get his arms in front of him (which I don't know how), I remember he was very intoxicated.
I only remember one suspect getting handcuffed in the stolen property episode, I remember the female driver looked like she was a crackhead.
Another police officer who I thought came across a bit of an ass was Jason Delair of San Bernardino (Season 14), he was the main officer who arrested a drunk suspect in front of a liquor store, the drunk suspect got into an argument with the liquor store clerk because he wanted a discount on his vodka because it was his birthday, the store clerk wouldn't do it and the drunk suspect got belligerent and argumentative with the store clerk over it, his buddy also gets arrested for a warrant, I also noticed Jason Delair got kinda angry with the suspect when he asked if he considers this to be negative contact with law enforcement.
Both suspects deny that they entered the liquor store in a vehicle that didn't belong to them.
I've seen the episode a few times and I thought he was a bit arrogant and smug. I noticed the drunk suspect was breaking down crying over him being arrested and Delair says with no empathy "keep crying all you want, you're going back to prison and this is how you're going to spend Christmas". I thought he was a little condescending to the suspect. The suspect stated the other employees give him a discount for alcohol on his birthday every year, and that's why he became upset with the clerk that night.
I noticed in another thread, you said you liked Delair, but here you say he's a bit of a jerk, so I'm not quite sure what you really think about him.
I think I noticed Delair's condescending personality more through YouTube, I remember him not feeling any sympathy towards the suspect when the suspect broke down crying, I also remember he got upset over the suspect refusing to answer how he came down here which made me wonder if the car they arrived in was stolen or not, I agree he got a little smug and arrogant when he told the suspect that he gets to go back to prison for Christmas and that he can cry all he wants, I would've felt a little bit sympathy for the suspect if he would've just been honest, I do remember the suspect claims he's known the owner for 20 years and the owner would give him a break on the price, if I were the suspect I would've just sucked it up and not accept the discount.
I remember seeing the episode on Spike, and I definitely noticed no sympathy towards the suspect. I would have felt a lot of sympathy for the suspect if he was honest too. He might have been honest when he said he knew the owner for 20 years and would always get him a discount. I would have sucked it up too. If he did that, it might have been better for him.
He was also on parole and if I were the suspect I would've just sucked it up knowing I could go back to prison if I just made things worse, I do wonder what the outcome would've been if the suspect was more honest, I know the suspect ended up having a crappy birthday, the suspect did tell the police that the car they arrived in didn't belong to his buddy.
Same here. I think he knew he was going back because he violated his parole. If he was honest, he might have been still going if he violated his parole. It's kind of a shame to be arrested on your birthday.
The suspect could've avoided violating his parole if he would've just accepted not getting a discount from his vodka, while on parole a person is not allowed to be consuming alcoholic beverages, I also remember Officer Delair sarcastically wishing the suspect a happy birthday and appeared to be smiling while explaining the situation with the other officers.
It was like Delair was enjoying himself while dealing with the suspect getting arrested on his birthday, I don't remember seeing the suspect putting his hand close to mouth when he saw Delair as he was walking out of the liquor store like what Delair explained, the secondary officer in that segment seemed nicer and more laid back.
Another officer who I think was a bit of a jerk at times was Rex Evans from Harris County. The one segment that ticked me off was from season 21, in which he stopped 3 people for initially walking in the middle of the road. It then becomes all 3 hiding drugs and dropping them in plain sight. I didn't feel sorry for any of them except maybe the 1 female. The one suspect was known by Evans and the suspect only claimed it was tobacco. At one point, he gets very angry when they're not following instructions, but goes so far as to call the one suspect "An idiot" for dropping the drugs, and gives the female an attitude when she asks politely if she's going to jail. He responds rudely with "did I say you're going to jail?". I thought that was uncomfortable to watch, especially when he called the one suspect an idiot.
Ironically, he's much calmer and cooler in other segments.
I remember Rex Evans and I don't really have too much of a problem with him, on the segment with the 3 people walking in the middle of the road I did feel Evans got a little belligerent towards the female for no reason, I thought Evans calling the suspect an idiot was somewhat justified, the male crackhead with the glasses did crack me up with his personality and tone of voice and I remember getting a laugh outta watching him, I remember Evans was getting fed up with dealing with the male crackhead because he's dealt with him numerous times, I thought the female was the most cooperative one of the bunch and didn't deserve the attitude when she politely asked if she's going to jail.
I do prefer watching Evans in the other episodes than that one.
Like I said earlier, I thought he had a bit of an attitude towards the female especially when politely asking if she's going to jail. What happened to a simple yes or no answer? I thought it was slightly unprofessional for him to call the one suspect an idiot on TV. I thought the crackhead with glasses was funny as well. I could see Evans being fed up as he's dealt with him before.
I liked his friendliness towards the elderly woman in her trailer who dealt with two burglars as well as the dog who had to be rescued from a car crash. I just felt he could have been slightly better with the triple arrest segment.
I did feel Evans should've been more straight up with the female if she was going to jail or not considering she asked politely, I didn't even really see any reason for her to be handcuffed right away, I have seen officers call the suspects an ass, dumb or an idiot in other episodes before, I remember on one Season 2 episode one police officer said "G-damn it" after getting stuck by a heroin syringe needle while frisking a suspect.
I don't really remember the episode where Evans was dealing with an elderly woman who dealt with two burglars but remembered him rescuing a dog from a car crash, I also remember Evans pursuing a truck with a golf cart.
I agree Evans should have been more straight to the point with the situation. I have seen other officers call suspects dumb and stupid but are not quite sure if they were called an idiot in other segments. The season 2 segment I don't have a problem with as the officer wasn't really getting mad with the suspect.
I remember on one Season 6 El Paso episode one officer explained that the suspect was an idiot because he ran from the police all because he wanted to be on the racetrack.
I would've liked to see Evans be more straight to the point with the situation rather than have the suspect guess whether if they're going to jail or not, I also didn't like see Evans accuse the girl of having an attitude when all she asked if she was going to jail, if she was a crackhead she didn't appear to be as bad off as the male crackhead with the funny voice.
This isn't the only time I've ever heard an officer respond with, "Did I say you're going to jail?". I also remember him giving her an attitude just for simply asking if she's going to jail.
I know some officers would detain the suspect in handcuffs for their safety because they could sense something sketchy, I also remember the male crackhead with the funny voice getting pissed off because he was getting arrested and taken to jail and wasn't able to smoke his crack.
I didn't have a problem with Evens detaining her for safety but he still could have been upfront about it. I know the crackhead was very ticked off too.
Also what did you think of Kenneth Hardy from Lafayette, LA (Season 24)? He reminded me somewhat of Charles Broussard but thankfully he wasn't as arrogant or rude as Broussard while he was dealing with the pothead trying to duck the cops, I also thought it was funny when the officers were laughing at the passenger for trying to ditch the crack pipe underneath the suspect's vehicle while the driver had a marijuana blunt in the rear of his pants.
It's been a while since I've seen that episode, so I can't really remember.
My favorite Lafayette officer is the middle-aged black guy who stopped a car I believe for speeding in a motel, and later found drugs on the suspects. He seemed like a cool guy.
I don't recall the episode you mentioned where a middle aged black officer stopped a car for speeding, is it a Season 24 episode? The episode I mentioned is on YouTube and it was the second segment of the one that followed the clip where Benjamin Lord arrested a guy tweaking on meth.
I agree Hardy did seem to be slightly arrogant but had a likable personality, he did remind me somewhat of Charles Broussard but thankfully Hardy wasn't nearly as obnoxious as Broussard was, the driver in that episode reminds me of a thinner version of actor Anthony Anderson
Another cop who I thought was a jerk was the one Portland officer who stopped a car outside of a bar where a couple were engaging in indecent exposure and was very condescending to the woman who he thought was arguing that exposure wasn't a crime. They were sent on their way but I thought the one officer was very arrogant. This was from the season 25 "Ho, Ho, Ho" episode.
I don't remember the "Ho Ho Ho" episode from Season 25, there aren't too many episodes from that season that I can remember but the way you described the Portland and Las Vegas officers from the "Ho Ho Ho" episodes makes me interested in watching it (if I could find them online).
One of my favorite episodes from Season 25 is the one from Chattanooga where the police did a traffic stop on two young males leaving a known crack house, the suspects claim they were trying to borrow a lawn mower from the residence but the officers thought it was odd seeing them do so at 10:30pm, unfortunately both suspects get arrested for possession of crack cocaine, I remember watching it on YouTube (which got deleted) and I remember people commenting on what a bunch of jerks these officers were, I personally thought they were being polite and professional in dealing with both of these suspects.
I've seen that episode before too. I didn't have a single problem with any of them as well.
I also remember an episode from season 25 in Almeda County, California where two young men got arrested for drug possession, and I remember the one suspect thanking the officers for how cool they dealt with them.
I don't really recall the Almeda County, CA episode from Season 25 but would like to check that one out, I like it when the officers are cool and polite while dealing with the criminals, I know that can inspire the criminals to change their lives for the better.
Another officer who I didn't care for was the Las Vegas officer from season 20 who stopped a vehicle parked in a lot. It was in the middle of the night and the guy claimed he was waiting for a man to discuss work. He's nervous throughout so the officer takes a closer look. He finds drugs in the guy's mouth and says rudely, "nice try" and also says arrogantly, "Does that hurt?". The suspect also claims he wants to talk to his parents, but he's 40. Like I said before, I don't like it when suspects swallow drugs, but I didn't care for the officer's aggressive attitude.
I remember the Las Vegas segment from Season 20 where a guy claimed he was waiting for a man to discuss work because this particular man works graveyard, I remember the suspect being very nervous, I agree this particular officer was a dick and came across very aggressive, it was like he was looking for a particular reason to bust this guy's balls, I remember the suspect losing his cool when he was being placed under arrest because of this particular cop being a dick, I remember he was a very tall guy too, I remember the officer saying "I'm gonna hurt you if you swallow it" and that he claims that it's not true that he is waiting for a guy to discuss a job at 2am.
I saw this officer in another segment and thought he was better in that one than the one with the guy swallowing the drugs, also is it true that they have to take the suspect to the hospital if they swallow crack?
Yeah. He was a jerk for almost the whole segment. He went ballistic when the suspect opened the door and was and was not all that polite when questioning him. And I agree that he was just looking for a reason to arrest him. I remember him at the beginning saying that it was a slow night so he stopped him because he thought it was suspicious. I felt bad for the guy when he got emotional after the officer was a jerk, plus I thought it was very condescending of the threat to hurt him if he dared to swallow. I also remember at the end the officer saying "I hope you never come back in this area to buy drugs". I hope he got help.
Pretty much the police have to call medical staff if they swallow drugs.
I knew the same officer was in another segment but can't remember which one.
I totally forgot all about this officer getting upset when the suspect opened the door but do remember him being a jerk while questioning him, I don't like seeing police officers looking for a reason to arrest certain criminals, I remember the police were threatening the suspect with a taser and I actually believed he was gonna get tased, I remember that being a very intense moment along with the suspect getting emotional and agitated, I also remember the lead officer saying "we don't tolerate that downtown" when it came to the suspect purchasing drugs, I think he appeared in another episode where they found a suspect hiding in a washer but I'm not certain.
I also remember the follow up episode where a middle aged suspect got arrested for having meth in his wallet and the suspect claims he didn't know how it got there, I thought those two officers in that segment were cool guys.
I'm not a fan of officers stopping people just to try to find a reason to possibly arrest them. I know they threatened him with a taser too. It was indeed very intense.
I'm pretty sure he was in the segment where the suspect hid in the dryer.
Seems like a lot of the later episodes of COPS are just basically officers stopping people in hopes of finding a reason to arrest them and I don't really enjoy watching these type of episodes, I also remember the suspect claiming that it's his mother's truck and he hasn't been arrested for a very long time on a DUI charge.
Another segment I didn't care for was the one from season 22 in Palm Beach where a guy was stopped in the middle of the road messing with a circuit breaker box. The guy claims he was just working on his car. In a search of the vehicle, they found drugs and a gun. The deputy claimed the suspect was trying to go for the gun for the glove box, but I think the deputy was just harassing him in hopes of finding something. The firearm was stolen, but I think the deputy was just looking for a reason to arrest him starting out.
I didn't like the segment either in season 22 when the Tulsa Officer was questioning two black males who were thought to have had car trouble. The officer immediately assumes they might be under the influence of weed so he does a series of tests. The one suspect runs on foot but apologizes. That whole segment too seemed to be the officer just looking for an arrest.
I've seen hundreds of COPS segments and I've probably disliked at least about a dozen.
I remember the Palm Beach segment and while I didn't like seeing this officer trying to find ways to arrest this suspect I was happy this particular criminal got arrested because who knows what he would've done if he hadn't been questioned by the police, I remember the suspect hiding the gun in the glove box along with him having drugs in his possession along with him being a convicted felon, I didn't particularly feel all that sorry for this criminal, I don't believe this suspect was trying to go for the gun in the glove box, I sometimes wonder if that traffic stop was legit or not, I also remember this particular officer was a bit passive aggressive at times
I don't remember the Tulsa episode all that well because I remember not liking it to where I didn't want to see it again.
I agree that it ended up being a worthwhile arrest. I didn't feel sorry for him either. I don't believe the suspect was going for the gun at all. I honestly believe the suspect was very confused and had no clue what was going on or what he was doing. I understand cops will stop people for potential violations. I was more upset wondering if that was a legit reason to stop him or not, then the arrest itself. The suspect seemed nervous and irritated dealing with him too, as well as the officer being slightly passive-aggressive. The suspect seemed like he just wanted to mind his own business than to deal with the deputy.
Did you actually see the Tulsa episode I described earlier?
Another officer I didn't like was Jeff Lessard from Maricopa County in season 22. He stopped the young adult for a traffic violation, and almost immediately smells marijuana in the vehicle. The suspect got in a rage when Lessard told him he had to tow it. What was even worse was his parents both came out, as his house was near the stop. He didn't leave right away when told and when he finally did, Lessard followed him and rudely told him "You don't want to do what you're told then you can go too ". When the father questions him, he rudely yells "Stop it". He admits that he was just going home, but then Lessard tells him he committed a "Class 6 felony", which was resisting arrest. The son continues his rage in the back of the cruiser while the father doesn't even go to jail. I'm not confident, but I'm guessing the father went right home with his wife. I had to laugh when he mentioned about the felony.
I actually don't remember this particular episode from Maricopa County, unfortunately any amount of marijuana (even a small amount) in Arizona is a felony offense which is something I don't agree with, I always thought resisting arrest without violence is a misdemeanor crime, not a felony, I am curious to check this episode out but can't seem to find it online, that sucks they would impound vehicles when they find a small quantity of marijuana.
I was surprised to find out resisting arrest without violence is a felony in Arizona considering in other states it's a misdemeanor, I know assaulting a police officer is a felony.
Another officer who I thought was an ass was Marcus Rath of Fort Worth (Season 17), he was the secondary officer who arrested a black male for stealing beer out of the store, since he swung at one of the employees prior to taking the beer it later turns into a robbery, Rath was the officer who kept telling the suspect to shut up and claims that he drove off in another police officer's car with handcuffs several weeks ago.
I didn't really have too much of a problem with the store employee acting the way he did, I agree the way Rath said "shut up" was obnoxious and mean, I thought Jeff Garbowski (the lead officer) was cool in dealing with the suspect, I wish he appeared in more episodes, I'm glad it was Garbowski who was the lead officer instead of Rath.
I remember there were times when Jeff Lower wasn't the one being interviewed prior to arriving the scene but once Lower arrives the attention is more on him than the officer driving the vehicle.
For Lower I liked him in Season 11, could tolerate him in Season 14, couldn't stand him in Season 16, I remember being surprised that John Kula was the lead officer in the pawn shop burglary episode (Season 11) and once Lower arrives Kula seems to kinda disappear, I even used to get Kula and Lower mixed up at first.
I only remember 2 segments Lower appeared in on Season 16 which is the one with the drunk guy yelling racial slurs at the clerk and 2 guys on a traffic stop where a guy had the crack pipe while on probation, the one with the racial drunk guy had another officer at the beginning of the episode but he disappears once Lower appears onscreen.
I've said numerous times here about the 2 guys in a traffic stop and how he treated them aggressively. I also thought he was a jerk in the drunk guy at the convenience store incident, even though I didn't feel sorry for the suspect. He also appeared in a traffic stop with a young man in a stolen car who claimed it was his mother's.
I've forgotten all about the segment Lower appeared in with a young man in a stolen car who claimed it was his mother's, I remember his parents wanted to press charges against him for being in that stolen car, I remember Lower didn't want to hear the suspect's lies as to how he got the car.
