It’s ironic that Ron Howard has such strong pro abortion views given the plot of this movie.

shareumm what...I dont think you know how pro choice works...
shareHe also made a movie with anti-union themes (Gung Ho) and Hillbilly Elegy (adapted from a book written by a MAGA type). Ron Howard is one of the big Hollywood neoliberals.
shareWhy? If there is an anti-abortion message in this movie, I must've missed it.
shareKarl, I think this was a trollbait OP.
shareIt does seem trollish, but Bavmorda was killing all these newborn babies because there was a prophecy that a child would grow up to overthrow her. And Willow and Madmartigan protect this baby the whole movie. So if the child was special, then its clearly not just a "clump of cells" is what the op is getting at I think.
shareI think it was because he was a different man in those days compared to today. Plus, this was about a baby that had already been born, versus one that was still in the womb.
shareWell, if you've done a deep dive into the film's backstory, you'll know Elora Danan is an immortal reincarnating superbeing. This is why killing her was never an option since she would just come back in another body. It is also why she's described as an empress despite being commonborn, and why the villain needs a magical ritual to get rid of her.
Maybe Ron Howard believes we are all reincarnating and therefore terminating an unwanted pregnancy is no big deal since the soul will move onto another body.
A Hollywood director with strong abortion views, shocking.
