4.6........... are you kidding me?????

How in the hell did the this movie get 4.6 out of 10????? Honestly, I understand this is no Godfather but it's an ACTION MOVIE!!!! It's not meant to be dramatic, it meant to be entertaining!!! And I can't see how this movie would bore anybody, the actions is amazing! So what's the deal?

How am I funny?

100% right... You see nowadays all these completely forgettable, average, cgi packed, run-of-the mill action movies getting sevens and eights, movies that nobody will remember 2 weeks after viewing.. and here you have an all time iconic movie with an all time iconic character, a movie that is being talked about 27 years after its release and its a mere 5.7??? Even Bloodsport which was a cheesy B-movie got higher grade!

This was the most expensive movie ever made at the time of its release and you cannot really say that it doesn't know how to spend its budget. Sure, the script has some holes and there's a lot of typical 80's cheese in it, but if Commando or Bloodsport (both movies have way better ratings) got away with it, why Rambo III can't?

27 years has passed and we still discuss this movie on this forum. Who will discuss "3 Days to Kill" or "Maze Runner" 27 years from now?...

I gave this a 7. I think it's better than First Blood Part II, but not quite as good as First Blood. Neither of the 3 (I haven't seen Rambo 4) are awful films.

As for anti-Soviet propaganda, I can see why people say that but there are acknowledgments within the film that America isn't perfect either. Trautman likens the Russians underestimation of the Afghans to the Americans approach to Vietnam. You also see Rambo continue to feel underappreciated by his home country despite fighting the supposedly evil communists all over the globe. The Soviets as characters could have been made more three-dimensional but the film, like its predecessors in the series, doesn't have a 100% black and white "isn't the USA fantastic?!" attitude.

Actually, in parts 1 and 2 USA there were TONS of US criticism, it was portrayed as a country, that doesn't care about their veterans and wants to cover up the existence of POW camps in Vietnam, which is actually ironic, because it shows how exactly USA creates its own propaganda. In part 3 there isn't much of that anymore, but the sole fact that Rambo choses to live in Thailand rather than return back home gives you quite an idea of what is Rambo's attitude to his own country. "I want our country to love us that much, as we love it", he said at the end at part 2... but it not quite does does it? That's why he ceases to return...
