Do you skip the first few minutes?

I always thought it was a mistake to start the movie with the very long panning of Spaceball One! I know it was supposed to take a long time but I always forward it when I watch it on DVD!

Does anyone do the same?

I just saw the film for the first time and found that scene very funny. The longer it went on, the more people were laughing. (Well over half of them had seen it before)

I can't be bothered with a signature.

It's a reference to the fact that every Star Wars movie begins with a ship going across the screen...

Opinions are like *beep* Everyone has one and some stink!

I guess that when you go to see it in a cinema, you deliberately get there late.

I saw it at the cinema when it was released. Doesn't anybody appreciate sarcasm? Everyone in the theater chuckled all the way through the scene. It's also great model work.

There's a deleted scene from Alien of the full panning of the ship. I think it's actually longer than the scene in Space Balls. (55 seconds)

Oh where?

Look like Tarzan talk like Jane! HAHA

no, but I skip almost everything else. Not a big fan of this movie.

It's actually under 2 minutes - long enough for the joke to be effective but not so long you have to skip it in repeated viewings where you know the joke. It's perfect to set the tone of the movie (and to enhance all further jokes about the size of the ship - "The ship is too big. If I walked, the movie would be over" works 10 times better when you haven't forwarded the intro!).
