Soo Underrated - The Hidden (1987) Discussion

Saw it on Halloween night, 1987. From out of nowhere a terrific action film. Director Jack Sholder should've gotten a lot more out of this. Hollywood!

I watched this movie for the first time, 4-5 years ago. Usually, it takes me a couple of viewings to warm up to older movies. I actually liked this the first time I watched it. What's strange is, almost everyone seems to like this movie, but it's not as well known or talked about, as much as other cult movies.

I saw the trailer for this on a video of Alien Nation, after seeing that trailer I spent years trying to hunt down a copy of it. I finally found one on eBay, bought it, watched it, loved it. Bought it on DVD as soon as it was released in the UK. Fantastic amazing film!

actually, this was very overrated. it's watchable, but def nothing special...

***USA makes classic movies, Europe makes better movies and Asia makes interesting movies***

I loved this movie, but I saw it as a kid, I absolutely remember the intro black ferrari car chase and then the first shocking transition, and even the dog, heheh gotta to re-watch it!

agreed....6.9 is ridiculous for this film. it was original when it came out and still stands up to the test of time. it's definitely 7+ material.

I can honestly say that this is one of the few movies that surprised the hell of me in a pleasant way. I loved it. I just watched it about a year ago and it is still a blast to watch.

Excellent movie. Huge fun, car chases, shoot-outs, fisty-cuffs, explosions, strippers, mad dogs, aliens, body snatching, the film has it all!

I saw this movie hoping for a decent film diversion. And what I saw far surpassed my expectations. I was shocked that the director didn't have an amazing career after this. But, this film stands up to most of the action films of the day as well as today (without the CGI). Absolutely outstanding.

Yes, I totally agree with you.

Jack Sholder must have seen as many wonderful B-movies as Quentin Tarantino and uses his massive knowledge of B´s to best effect.

I´ve seen this movie when it came out, some 10 years later and again today and although I remembered how great it is, today I´d call it nothing short of a masterpiece, absolutely amazing. Superb dialogue, perfect action-scenes, great performances and a wicked cynical humor. You gotta watch a lot of movies to find another one as great as this! Such movies come 2, 3 per decade!
