The Golden Child vs. Big Trouble In Little China

Both fantasy comedies with Asian influence came out the same year. Which one do you prefer? And which movie ripped off the other? Which one was first?

And which do you like better?

reply

I liked big trouble more but I think that Golden child is better.

They are both cool in different ways! If you are a fan of Eddie and Kurt, it's okey if the movie is crap as long as they are acting :)

I love both movies equally. I have both on DVD, and they share a common actor. Peter Kwong (or as I like to refer to him, the "Asian Tim Allen" looks kinda like him to me..) Tommy Tong in GC and Rain in Big Trouble

reply

dont forget James Hong. he plays david lo pan in big trouble and Victor Wong who plays egg fu in the same movie.

reply

I prefer Big Trouble, but Golden Child has its charm too...

reply

BTiLC is far and away the better film, but The Golden Child is more than watchable.
I like them both.

I truly love both equally and think that both have their unique charm. I LOVE the story of GC and the vibrant colors of BTiLC are captivating. The campy humour of both is what makes them favourites!

I prefer Big Trouble. It's faster paced, funnier, more interesting. Child is extremely unfunny, the story is humdrum, the effects are pretty poor.

reply

That's like comparing Kurt Russel and Eddie Murphy and asking who is the better comedian.

reply

I like both, but i think that Golden Child is better because Eddie was just hilarious in it---it captured his prime.

reply

IMO, both movies are good in their own right. ^_^
