I am writing this after watching the movie last night with my 8 year old daughter and she was scared to death!! Now after reading everyone's posts about the impact of the movie on them at her age, I'm feeling particularly bad about not being more understanding. I found the movie to be just plain weird, though I did watch it to the end rather than turning it off half-way. My daughter wouldn't let me leave the room for any reason whatsoever, so I suppose I was somewhat of a captive audience. I'm going to let her read the posts to affirm her feelings. I'm sure she will also use it as an opportunity to show me how I don't pay enough attention to her! In this instance, she has a valid point.

I know by now this is completely redundant but I have to get it out of my system: I am so glad I'm not the only one who viewed this movie as a child and had the crap scared out of me! Its so cool to know that all of us share this similar experience! I thought NOBODY heard of this film, and everyone who has and has joined this post have had the same experience! This movie and the fear I had of this film was such a big part of my childhood, its great to share similar memories with people who surprisingly went through the exact same thing! Its actually kinda comforting! Thank god for IMDB! Well, I stop rambling now...

Yeah, I saw this when I was 5, and it freaked me out enough that I still occasionally thing about it--especially when I'm buying/using paintbrushes with fine hairs!

I remember this movie.

I saw it when I was a bit older than the rest of you, but I still had the nightmares and half-remembered fleeting images of this movie and I haven't really ever talked about it because nobody else ever seemed to remember it.

I'm glad to see that I am not alone in the utter terror this movie instilled in others of my generation (or close to that. I'm probably a tad older than most of you) and can finally talk about it.

I too am a victim and survivor of "The Peanut Butter Solution". I saw this when I was pretty young. They actually played it at school at the YMCA after-school (daycare?) program. Can you imagine exposing that many children to this horror?! As it turns out, that night after watching it (though I don't think I watched it until the end because my dad came to pick me up or something) I had a really bad nightmare about it. In this nightmare were things from this movie, such as the creepy old b*tch and the creepy old bastard, the whole wig humilation thing, the creepy painting.... I dunno, it just had stuff from the movie in it.

Like you, nobody I have ever talked to about this has seen it or at least seen it and remembered it, even vaguely. However, my survivor's tale has a twist: I told my dad about this nightmare I had and how it came from the movie (I think I even woke him up after I woke up from the nightmare to tell him about it) and he wrote a note to the counselors at the YMCA, that very next day.

I showed it to one of the counselors and she basically and actually replied that no one else had any problem with it and if it scared me then I shouldn't watch movies that scare me. Being a kid I just dropped it at that. Even then I couldn't believe this was a PG movie or whatever it was, that it was fit for children.

This monstrosity has been the most horrifying movie I have ever seen. I'm not a big horror or "thriller" buff but I have seen movies such as "28 Days Later", the "Saw" movies, "Hostel" and whatnot (some of them might be lightweight for you hardcores but like I said I'm not a hardcore) and none of these gave me nightmares or had any real lasting effect on me mentally. Even when I was close to the age I watched "The Peanut Butter Solution" I saw bits of movies such as "Pet Cemetary" and "The Poltergeist" and even none of those traumatized me the way this did.

I was so surprised when I read on Wikipedia how so many others get nightmares about this movie. I was also surprised to find how everyone who was traumatized by this movie also could never find anyone else in real life (as opposed to the internet) that saw or remembered this movie. I'm relieved that we all share something in common with this thing.

This horrible movie should be give an R rating bar none. They actually show the true meaning of "horror movie" by not making it gory, violent or obscene, but just plain CREEPY! Also, it's the way they make it creepy by making it look like a kid's movie! There's no murder, torture, surprises waiting around the corner to spook you, monsters, traditional ghosts, etc. It's like they wanted to make a horror movie for kids so they put it in what APPEARS to be a light and comedic setting, but we all know better.

If I get around to it I'm gonna watch this movie again and confront it. I want to show it to others so they can see what I'm talking about.

You know what this movie reminds me of because of the ill after effects it has on everyone? The infamous movie in "The Ring" series.

I'm with you, OP. My parents let me watch EVERYTHING when I was a kid, and I grew up in the '80s, when there was a lot of jacked up movies. I saw Robocop when I was like 8 and I saw Silence of the Lambs when I was about ten. But nothing screwed me up more than The Peanut Butter Solution. This movie is pure evil.

Okay. Now I'm going to do his teeth and cut off his fingers. You might want to leave room.
