Which Firgure Was Your Holy Grail?

When I was a kid, I always wanted but could never find: Duke or the Crimson Twins.

I'm not saying I had all the others, but those were the ones that I pined over.

I did send away for Major Bludd and I was proud of collecting all three original dreadnoks, but the aforementioned "white whales" always escaped me.

I had seemingly hundreds of Joes & Cobras, but the one figure I never had was The Baroness. My Terrordrome was staffed with CC, Destro, Storm Shadow, Fire Fly, Major Bludd, Zartan, The Crimson Twins, Serpentor, Dr. Mindbender, The Drednoks, Copperhead, Croc Master, Big Boa, all kinds of Vipers, B.A.T.S., cobra soldiers & officers, crimson guardsmen even some Cobra La, but sadly remained a Baroness free place haha. I never found her.

I forgot Wild Weasel. I had him too. I think the Joe I could never find was Scarlett.

Storm Shadow version 2 was my favorite figure, but Storm Shadow 1 was, and still is, my favorite card art. Best action figure, ever.

UPDATE:

Someone commented recently and I was telling my wife about this conversation and the other day she surprised me with Duke. Yes, I know how lucky I am.

That is what I like to call "A keeper".

The Duke I had finally got was the Tiger Force version. Years later I painted it into the original color scheme. I never had but always wanted a Firefly and Major Bludd, I eventually customized them out of parts of other figures and paint. The Firefly turned out pretty well, Bludd could use some improving, lol. I also made my own Steel Brigade figure, using Wild Weasel's head for the helmet. I also really wanted Scarlett and Lady Jaye, since female figures were something I couldn't customize. Recently I picked up the comic book 3 pack of Jaye with the two Cobra soldiers from issue #44. Again, I'm painting her into her more cartoon like appearance. There's also a 3 pack with Scarlett, Breaker and a hologram Cobra Commander from issue #9, that I'll probably pick up at some point. Favorite figures I was always glad I got were Serpentor, Iron Grenadier Destro, first 3 Snake-eyes and first 2 Storm Shadows.

Zarana was mine. I had Zander, but I could never, ever find Zarana ANYWHERE! Believe me I looked. Every local toyshop and general supermarket that stocked toys was scoured- and there were two big towns (one's now a "city") and six or seven smaller towns within a 40 minute drive
that I would visit semi-regularly with my parents.

I wonder if being about 12 had anything to do with the obsession. It wasn't conscious but looking back...

Odd that some folks had a hard time finding the Twins. For me, it seemed like they were everywhere to the point where I got sick of looking at them. I remember, during a trip to New York City, my dad playing up Macy's as this veritable toy haven. We get there and it's nothing but freakin' Twins.

For me, the elusive figure was Sci-Fi of all characters.

Couldn't find this guy for the longest time and was fascinated with him for some reason. Maybe it was the neon color scheme or Robocop-style helmet he wore that appealed to me back then, but I couldn't care less about him today.

Finally found him on the back of a peg in an out of town K-Mart. Of course, once I had him he started popping up all over the place. Funny that.

Never had a problem finding the action figures in the stores back in the day except in 1984 when the third series came out. Storm Shadow and Firefly were easily the two hardest to find figures in my city. It seemed like a year before I could find them in the toy stores. Two of the greatest action figures ever made.
