Are we still angry at John Landis?

I am not, and I never was. Unfortunate accidents happen. It wasn't like John Landis ordered the helicopter to go crashing down. Also, it is disgusting that some people keep emailing Max Landis that it was his father's fault etc. etc.

From the footage there appears to be a lack of safety measures.

reply

exactly, it was entirely preventable

reply

yeah, duh. he didnt serve his sentence.

People dying on a film set due to negligence has happened a lot like Brandon Lee being shot on The Crow and cinematographer shot on Rust. There's plenty of stunt people who've died on set during dangerous stunts.

reply

Sure. It was a risk that was absolutely not necessary to take. Landis was either not risk averse enough, or his judgement of risk was poor and compromised. His decisions and his zeal for the shot led to the scenario where the accident happened. He didn't cause the accident. But the accident only happened the way it did after Landis made several decisions to ensure he got the shot he wanted.

Imagine how much of a loser one would have to be to spend time sending emails to the son of a director about something that happened 40 years ago.

reply

I don't think we should just forget and move on when he was that negligent about something that serious.

"Unfortunate accidents happen. It wasn't like John Landis ordered the helicopter to go crashing down" 🙄

This is an incredibly ignorant comment. It's like throwing someone into a swimming pool filled with sharks, watching them be devoured and then say "I didn't tell the sharks to eat them."

As SO many others have pointed out, John Landis' ignorance, impatience and terrible disregard led to the deaths of Vic Morrow and those two precious, innocent kids, Myca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen. Not to mention the 6 other people injured in the crash and the horror of the parents watching their children die. He should have been jailed.

As for people emailing his son, that is awful and inexcusable. His son is an innocent who does not deserve to pay for his father's mistakes.

reply

Yes, he killed Vic Morrow and two children and didn't have to pay the price for doing so.
